Harry P. Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 But then again, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...
RodBurNeR Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 This is made in resin by Jimmy Flintstone. I have seen it, it's HUGE (long) in 1/25 scale too! http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/FlintstoneG...ntstoneAll.html
scummy Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) G,day , farout , could not imagine hurtling down the salt flats at break neck speed in that huge thing , how scarey Cheers Edited January 2, 2009 by scummy
george 53 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Goldenrod is there for a reason, Scummy. She held the world's speed record for quite a few years, and may yet still hold some! Hot Rod Magazine did an EXCELLENT article on her reconstruction/restoration about 2 years ago, and man, you wouldn't beleive what they do to a car in those circumstances, even if it NEVER runs again, they build them back up like they will. It's just like new,and ready to set some more records!
Jairus Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Just imagine if they were to add computer controlled fuel injection and engine syncing that puppy could go even faster today!
samdiego Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) I remember seeing it at the Ohio State Fair in the late 60's, set up as a midway display. They didn't offer rides Edited January 2, 2009 by samdiego
cruz Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 You can put a beam in the front and use it as a guided missilie!!!!
scummy Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 G,day , i remember reading an article a loooooong time ago in a mag called , american rodder ? Those summer bros were ahead of the times with this car , still rather watch than ride .Cheers ,
Helipilot16 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Just imagine if they were to add computer controlled fuel injection and engine syncing that puppy could go even faster today! Actually synching the engines is unecessary and adds nothing to the performance. The horsepower of each engine is added to that of the others regardless of throttle setting or engine speed. One old trick from early drag racing was to start the quarter on one engine and kick the other one in at mid track. The Bustle Bomb was run that way. Mickey Thompson used to use a blown chrysler and an unblown flathead in tandem.
Scott Colmer Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I used to marvel at that when it sat OUTSIDE the NHRA museum for a few years. Such a cool piece. They have the MT Challenger inside still. Here is a build up of the Flintstone resin. The decals were missing the flag and Summers Bro logos so I made them by hand. The finished model is pretty nice and so long it could be used for home defense. Scott Hosted on Fotki
