NOBLNG Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 (edited) I have this ultra bright chrome that I bought quite a while ago. I’ve never used it because it would look like someone took 180 grit sandpaper to your trim. ? But it can be sanded with some 800 or finer to make fairly decent looking brushed aluminum finish. This stuff is a lot thicker and more “metal” like than the good “new improved chrome”, and it’s not the same as the recent “chrome” that doesn’t stick well. I have to hang onto it when peeling it off or it curls like crazy. Maybe it won’t be wasted after all.? Edited April 13, 2022 by NOBLNG add pics
peteski Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 This is the stuff BMF came up with after Detail Master started makign their Chrome Foil. I bout one sheet of both types and deemed unusable for chrome trim. That was probably about 20 years ago. Still have them and the only use I can possible see for it is some simple flat trim which doesn't have any deep features or curves. This stuff is basically thin aluminum foil with adhesive on the back. Very stiff. Unlike the original "chrome" BMF which is some sort of very thin and soft metal foil. You came up with an interesting application for it.

I used it on the rear of my ‘66 Nova. There were some ejection pin marks that had to be sanded off so I had to cover them somehow. It did settle down surprisingly well over the Chevy II script.? peteski Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 I am surprised how well it settled over that script.
deuces wild Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 I also have a sheet that's over 20 years old.... I wonder if it's still good...?
