I have a couple of spots on my pictures that just recently showed up. I have attached a picture with the areas circled.

I have cleaned the mirrors but the spots are still there.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would check the lens and mirrors again, viewing at different angles, to let the light wash over them showing off any debris. It looks to be on the lens, could be as simple as a water spot or smudge.

I will check again later today.

Sometimes when changing or removing the lens even for cleaning it is possible to get a spot of dust, or some contaminate on the lens as well.

Are there some mirrors that you can;t get to by just taking the lens off?

Do you have any type of cleaning "kit" for your camara? The Minolta that I bought many years ago had a kit with a soft brush and a hand squeeze bulb to blow off anything on the surfaces. Your blemishes in the picture don't look like you would want or need a lens wipe or tissue to be used.

I cleaned the mirror & the sensor from manual mod. It took some sample pics and the smudge appears to be gone.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

In SLRs (and I assume in DSLRs) the mirror is only in the optical path for composing the image through the viewfinder.  When shutter is pressed, the mirror lifts up out of the optical path to allow the image to be captured by the image sensor at the back of the camera (where the film in SLRs used to be).

Because of that the only places that the fuzz can be in are in the lens, or on the image sensor.  If the fuzz is visible in the viewfinder (look at some uniform colored area (like clear sky or a piece of paper), then the fuzz is in the lens.

Somewhere in your menu settings, you will be able to get the mirror to lock up out of the way to have a look at the sensor. The mirror is only about seeing the image in the viewfinder, so if you have spots or hairs on your actual images, then they aren't on the mirror, they are on the sensor or in the lens. If they are blurry, like the ones you are showing, they are more likely on the lens than the sensor. A "puff duster" brush is your best friend for both. I have one that's a bit like a squeezy rocket/football shape blowing through a soft brush nozzle. Look at the front lens surface and back glass of the lens, and give it a puff clean. If that doesn't do it, lock the mirror up, turn your camera body down to face the floor, and puff dust the sensor behind the mirror so any contamination falls down and out...

HTH,

best,

M.
