Howdy y’all!

I’ve got a Johan ‘66 Coupe De Ville kit to build here, and I think I want to go with a dark blue GM factory color named ‘Nocturne Blue’.

Wondering if anyone has a good lead on matching this color (hobby paint or otherwise…).

I tried some of the obvious paint suppliers (MCW and the likes) and didn’t immediately see anyone selling it, and I only rarely do a factory-stock build so I don’t research this stuff very often.

Any ideas, GM experts?  Any hobby colors that are a close match, or a GM paint code match that’s currently (easily) available?  Maybe a Duplicolor rattle can that I can decent and airbrush, or similar?

For reference the color looks like this (and my original ‘66 Cadillac brochure notes that it’s ‘iridescent’):

Semi-related question - Cadillac offered a white interior option on this era of car, but I can’t find a pic online of a blue car with a white interior…I’m wondering if certain interior colors were typically paired to certain exterior colors (their blue interior to the blue paint, the green interior to green paint etc. etc.). Is there a database out there somewhere where I can research this stuff?  Would love to hear from anyone who knows more about this era of Caddy than I do!

Scale Finishes has GM Code 26 Nocturne Blue, 2 oz. @ $9.99. Paintscratch.com also has Nocturne Blue Poly available (1 oz bottle @ $16.95 and 2 oz. @ $26.95).

Re exterior/interior options, THE CADILLAC COLOR, UPHOLSTERY & ACCESSORY DATABASE 1940-1979 is an indispensable resource. Download and save it.

According to the database, the following trim codes with white leather upholstery were available for deVilles and deVille convertibles for the 1966 MY which would match well with Nocturne Blue:

352* White Leather w/ Black carpet dV,dV Conv
353 White Leather w/ Med.Blue carpet dV,dV Conv

I included the paint code in my post. The GM/Cadillac color code for Nocturne Blue is 26. A custom paint from MCW will cost $18.00, twice as much as the paint from ScaleFinishes, com, more than the 1 oz. bottle and almost as much as the 2 oz. bottle from Paintscratch.com.

Scale Finishes is my "go to" whenever I'm looking for an unusual color.

They have just about everything.

MCW has superior paint in my opinion, but there are a lot of holes in their inventory.

I had to use Scale Finishes for the "Sunfire Red" for my '64 Grand Prix, and "Cinnamon Bronze" for my '68 442, because MCW didn't carry either without a special order.

Don't get me wrong, Scale Finishes paint is good stuff.

I just like the scale of the metallics in MCW better.

That said, as Joe stated, Scale Finishes will almost always have what you're looking for.

The Ditzler code for that color is 13149. and seems to be a unique formula as there's no other colors with a different name with that code.

'66 Chevy Danube blue is super close and Scale Finished does have that.

Just to eliminate any confusion, 1966 Cadillac, Code #26 "Nocturne Blue",  GM code WA3503, Ditzler PPG code 13149, Dupont code 4718L, 181-97687........all the same color.  :)

By the way, here is a '66 Deville in Nocturne Blue with a white interior.

I have your posts blocked Joe so I don't see what you post. ?

Actually, with the animated GIF and all the extra info in different fonts , sizes and colors, I found your post very cluttered and hard to read and just plain missed that you said anything about Scale Finishes.

Wasn't trying to be a shnuk .

Thank you so much everyone - Joe especially for the quick response and doing some legwork I hadn’t got around to yet myself!

Appreciate all your helpful comments fellas!  Looks like I got my lead!

And @StevenGuthmiller - thanks for finding a pic of a car in that color combo!  I’d been googling for pics of Coupes specifically - should’ve widened my net a little I guess…but that’s a beautiful car!  Confirms what I hoped about just how nice that combo would look together!
