nadtheman Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Anyone have a good recommendation for creating a realistic brass finish? I've got one of the ICM 1913 Model T Speedsters that I'd like to build. Any advice will be appreciated!
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 I've had great results doing "brass" radiator tanks with one of the Rub 'n Buff colors. Gold leaf is probably the closest to a brass look. 2
nadtheman Posted June 22, 2022 Author Posted June 22, 2022 Thank you for the reply! I'll pick some up and see what I can do.
peteski Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Alclad II Polished Brass airbrushed over a coat of glossy paint (gray or maybe even dark yellow) should also look close to real brass.
RSchnell Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 The last ICM Model T I built I used bare metal foil on the radiator, Model Master Aluminum metalizer on the lights & firewall band. I then went over all these with a mix of Tamiya 80% Clear Yellow & 20% Clear orange. Not perfect but looks pretty close to me.
Bainford Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 AK Interactive Extreme Metal paints look good. Their brass has a nice brass patina look.
nadtheman Posted June 23, 2022 Author Posted June 23, 2022 Thank you for all the replies. My "local" hobby shop carries Alclad and I have used it so that seems like the place to look. Thanks again!
