Chief Joe Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Hello all, This is my first post on this fine board. I did a quick search and came up with nothing, so I thought I'd ask out loud. I am looking for some accurate Pontiac Rally II wheels in 1/24-1/25 scale for use on a couple of GTO projects. I owned a couple of 69 GTO's back in the 90's and I'd like to build up a couple of models of the old girls. The Rally II wheels in the Pontiac kits I have leave a lot to be desired, so I figure SOMEBODY has to have resin replacements available. To let you know a little more about me, my day job is rotorhead modeler http://www.fireballmodels.info, and these car builds will be just for fun Regards, Joseph Edited January 15, 2009 by Chief Joe

I've bought a few sets of them, they also sell them with out the trim rings which is good for Trans Ams and Judges. Reliable Resin makes Rally IIs also, I believe. http://www.seltd.net http://www.reliableresin.com/
Eshaver Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I don't remember for sure but I think I saw Pontiac wheels at the Time Machine resin booth at the last North Carolina Show I attended last August . Ed Shaver
crispy Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I used the S.E. Limited resin wheels with the chrome trim rings and was really impressed with them. I painted them to match my buddies 1:1 car. Here they are on the model: I have no problem recommending these wheels. Chris
Zoom Zoom Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I can also vouch for the SEL wheels; I have a set that I will use on my '68 Firebird. Very nice wheels.
Eshaver Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Chris , that's an impressive looking Pontiac ! Ed Shaver
crispy Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks Ed. It wasn't quite complete at the time of the picture. My buddy was always wanting updates. He was really happy with it when I finally gave it to him. I actually bought the Sundancer kit for him as a Christmas gift. A few years later I got it back with all the paint and what not. It was fun. To me the wheels turned out the best. Thanks! Chris
Chief Joe Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks for all the comments and tips, guys. Those SE Ltd wheels certainly look like part! That's a 1/25 Revell Firebird, right? How do the wheels scale in real life? They look like 15-inches on this model (the trim rings sometimes make it hard to judge the wheel size). If they look like 15-inches in 1/25, then they'd be close to the correct 14-inches in 1/24. I'll have to get some of these for my old 1/24 Monogram kits. While I'm at it, I don't suppose there are any aftermarket 1/24 or 1/25 scale stock 1969 GTO bodies available? The Monogram body shell lacks the proper "fullness" in the front & rear fenders (Beyonce-type fullness, if you know what I mean). I have the Testors Lincoln Mint model, too. It's a little better in the fenders, but has too many other issues to use for my builds.
crispy Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Joe, Here is the link to the SE wheels. SE Ltd. wheel page Great wheels at a great price. Although the sizes aren't listed and its been at least 6 years or so since I bought them. Generally designed for fit in 1/24, 1/25 scale. The model was actually the MPC Sundancer 69 Firebird Convertible. I believe it was 1/25th. Anyway, GOOD LUCK! Chris
roadhawg Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Its been awhile since I posted anything here, but this topic caught my eye. I'm glad it did, because I saw your link and I need some of your helicopter decals.....YGM! Anyway.....here is what those SELtd wheels look like on a 1/24 scale model, my 74 SD455 T/A........ Since there are no locator pins or anything, it can be a little bit tricky getting the beauty rings centered, but these are some nice wheels! I wish the kit makers would start making the beauty rings separate!
