I'm trying to recreate a convertible top in the down position with a cover over it. I believe I've seen where folks model tarps (basically same concept for what I need) by mixing Elmer's white glue and water and brushing it over a matedial. Am I on the right track? Material? Tips? Thanks in advance.

Check out this '32 built by Kruzn , he used a twill fabric from Hobby Lobby that looks very good . If you scroll down to the bottom of the first page he describes it .

I formed the above "tarp" by making a diluted white glue solution, and soaking

a heavy-duty paper towel in it. I covered the Chevy body in plastic wrap, then

formed the wet towel to my liking, and allowed it to dry in place. After removing

the plastic wrap, the "tarp" fit fairly well.

The tarp on this truck was done with white glue diluted with water and a facial tissue.

As others has said, soak your material in the glue/water and formvit to fit. Let dry.

To achieve a used real effect, paint with craft paint while still wet. It gives it a lot of definition.

Hadn't seen this one before, that is some exemplary weathering and scratch-building there. Is there a thread associated with that project?
