Terry Jessee Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 These are both from a circa 1961 release of the AMT Double T kit. They're box mates. They were built for Hot Rod Model Kits. The coupe made both front and rear covers, but the stock pickup didn't make the cut. (MBI had only had budgeted for 85 photographs.) 1
Oldcarfan27 Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 I'm enjoying seeing all your builds, many I recall from past publications. So great having you share them again here.
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Oh yeah, that was me in the 60's. The Double T, Stone Woods Cook and the Big T were some of my favorite builds. Great nostalgia!
espo Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 These are both beautiful looking builds. I don't recall ever seeing the T pickup-built stock. I like the way this one is detailed.
bbowser Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 I'm partial to the pickup myself but they all look great. I imagine Hot Rod wasn't looking for stockers.
SSNJim Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 I just picked that book up at an antique shop in Crestwood, KY, along with a couple of Tim Boyd books and one on Raymond Loewy.
rsmodels Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Terry, I love seeing these builds even if I've seen them before. I have both Double T kits built along with the Monogram Red Chariot, Blue Beetle, Yellow Jacket, and a couple of others but build mostly factory stock models. You are really motivating me to build some of the other hot rod models I have. Thank you very much for posting. -Rich
Kah puts Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Ah the way-back machine is looking fine Professor Peabody.
