A basic out of box build. Painted the body today and will put on the decals in the next couple of days. The interior is done as are the wheels and tires. Working on the chassis and suspension.

Nice start, I grabbed this kit when it first came out. I think I was a bit intimidated by the amount of parts. The box was bulging with parts. That might explain why I haven't built it yet. It looks to be a sweet kit and I love the subject matter. Looking forward to more

The only issue I have encountered has to do with the clearance between the headers and the front frame rails and the rear mounting boss for the engine cradle. The drive shaft is about 1/8" to short. The only real extra parts are a stock single four barrel and manifold and a nice set of steel wheels in stock width and wide pair for the slicks. The kit includes a second set of lowering front spindles and the option of a raised rear suspension and matching shocks.  I had to drill out the holes in the hood for the air intake but beyond that the kit has not fought me and seems to go together well.

I’m building one of these right now too! (along with 4 other early 60’s super stock subjects). I’m painting mine as Hayden Proffitt’s black Yeakel Mopar Max Wedge super stocker and hope to post it soon. My first black paint job was a complete disaster (Zero Black Base + Tamiya TS-13 clear coat over Scalefinishes Super Grey Primer, big mistake!), just stripped it back to bare plastic and going back to good old Tamiya Gloss Black lacquer over Tamiya Fine lacquer primer.

These Round 2 ‘64 Belvederes are fabulous kits, everything fits nice and looks right. Yours is coming out sweet so far, particularly that beautiful interior. Looking forward to seeing your Lawman come together!

Great idea. I don't often build drag Cars so I'm staying with the kit's decals.  Too bad about your paint issues. This is why I try and stay with the same brand of products throughout a paint job. Less chance that I can screw it up. Post some pictures as I would like to see your build as well.

Got the decals done and hope to have the Chrome Foil by tonight. Been having a problem with the wheel mounting bosses breaking. The kits mounting for the wheels and tires are very small plastic pins and they are not particularly strong and break with only very light pressure.

I am not familiar with this kit, but could you replace the mounting pins with some brass rod? I have done that restoring old MPC kits broken front pins.

Nice build by the way, makes me wish I would have got one when they were available. How are the decals in the kit.

Hi Todd, The kit is a reissue by Round 2 under the AMT label. I think the origins may go back to the Lindberg kit. I did much what you are suggesting on the suspension mounting. I have gotten a couple of different size Wire Nails from Home Depot. In this case I used the 3/4" x 17 size. I disassembled the wheels and glued the nail from the inside and then drilled out the mounting points on the spindles and the rear differential. I just trim the nail to the length needed. They're stronger than really needed but they're kind of cheap like me. As for the decals I think they are of good quality. Seemed like I had to let them sook longer than I'm used to, but they laid down nicely with no problems. The "Lawman" decal is large, and I used the pictures online and the box art for a guide for placement. None of the decals required any trimming around the edges as they came off of the carrier with the minimal of an edge around the printing.

Finally got the foil work done. Had a big disaster while doing a little detailing to the foil on the trunk lid. I used some black panel line paint to make the lettering standout on the rear trim part. I didn't have the lid tight when I went to put away the panel line paint jar and it slipped out of my hand and dumped a large puddle of the black paint on my work surface and much of the rear suspension and the slicks. After cussing a blue streak, I did get lucky as the cutting board I use stopped the fluid from spreading too far. Stinky stuff to mop up.
