thebavarian Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 Nice work. I like the color. Good paint job on the 2 bodies.
ModelcarJR Posted September 30, 2022 Author Posted September 30, 2022 Thanks, Dominick, Carl, Mike, Bill, and Thomas! I appreciate the comments! The next body to be painted is the 42 Willys Street Rod. I have built this one before with an Aqua enamel airbrushed, frenched headlights and taillights, white interior. Took a first place a few years ago. So this one I think I will paint like the box art with Tamiya orange and Dupli-Color black. The body is in good shape with only minimal sanding for a couple of mold lines around the taillights. Also eliminated the license plate marking on the trunk. I'll get started on paint tomorrow and maybe finish the Monte Carlo. Thanks for looking! ? 3
slusher Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Stunning Willys John, that is a beautiful color for it and I have not seen another Willys. I can see why it won…
ModelcarJR Posted October 1, 2022 Author Posted October 1, 2022 Thanks, Carl! I appreciate your compliment! I finished 1/2 of the paint on the current Willys. Here are a couple of photos. 3
Mopar - D Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Nice start John your first part of your paint looks good. Looks like we have some good painting weather for the next couple days.
ModelcarJR Posted October 1, 2022 Author Posted October 1, 2022 Thanks, Dan! Yes, weather is great and hopefully I can get a few more bodies painted. This one in Orange and Black is my Halloween Special! Not much rubbing will be needed on this one.

ModelcarJR Posted October 2, 2022 Author Posted October 2, 2022 Mike, the paint is Tamiya Orange and Dupli-Color Ebony black. Cleared with Krylon Clear Lacquer. All three in rattle cans.
ModelcarJR Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 Thanks, Carl! Here's the 57 Chevy 2 door Sedan rubbed out and foiled. I'm thinking about whether to leave the rain rail black of just foil it. I also need to add some gold on the rear insert and the three gold emblets on the front fender but I do that last. The rear fender inserts are foiled with Matte Aluminum and trimmed with regular chrome foil. I'll be finishing the Monte Carlo this afternoon and then on to painting the other parts for the 57 Chevy. I've painted all the parts for the 41 Willys and need to complete the others that I have painted bodies. Then I'll paint some more bodies to get ready for winter. Thanks for looking! ?
ModelcarJR Posted October 4, 2022 Author Posted October 4, 2022 Thanks, Dan and Carl! I appreciate your comments! I can close this thread now as the Monte Carlo is done! Aside from the cracked windshield, it didn't turn out too bad. Added a water bottle in the engine bay and blackwashed the aluminum. Added black decals on the lower chrome trim on the long runs. Bumpers assemblies glued on well. Chrome foil on the headlight bezels. Done! Thanks for looking! ? 6
