iBorg Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Apparently I’m spending the night at the Pittsburgh airport before I travel home. Any good shops near by or on the west side of Pittsburgh? Thanks!
Straightliner59 Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I remember going to one, downtown--in 1975!? I bought some Kemtron glad hands, there. Probably a couple of other things, too. I'm sure it's long gone, now!
iBorg Posted October 15, 2022 Author Posted October 15, 2022 For others who might wonder the same thing. I visited two shops. The first of these was American Hobby Center. Not bad for model trains and RC. The model car stuff was limited. Some of it was older but little of interest as most of it has been reissued or were fairly common. Prices were typical. Then I went to Hobby Express in Cranberry. I visited this shop a couple of years ago and was overwhelmed. First off, I got there and there's a lot of construction equipment for a store remodel. My first fear was they'd closed and the store was being remodeled for new tennants. Instead, they were expanding. You name it and they had it. High end diecast, RC, military, model railroads, model cars and sci-fi. Plus way more supplies than I'd seen at any other shop. I doubt there's much they don't have in the supply line. I spent an hour and a half and could have easily doubled that. Nice staff. I really needed a great shopping list. Once again, I was overwhelmed. If you in the area, Hobby Express is worth the trip.

Hobby Express is amazing! I didn’t know that they were expanding. That is great news! I hope you found the paint you were looking for.
GLMFAA1 Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 From where I live it is well worth the trip to Cranberry for supplies. Just gotta get Tom Wolf and the turnpike officials stop being vultures. greg
