Horrorshow Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Box stock build. This was before I discovered aftermarket decals. I wanted the paint to be seafoam and black. There was no gloss black spray so I got matte black. I didn’t know the difference at the time but I loved how it looked. I could not find a seafoam spray so I bought a small bottle and brushed it on. It’s finish was flat, which made the decals impossible to slide. I had to be pretty well exact at first placement. I opened the back wheel wells slightly and lifted the front end to give it a gasser stance. This made the engine sit too low. It is a very simple kit and I learned a few lessons about paint, decals and modifying ride heights.
larman Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 I like it! You really captured the feel of the old drag cars.
M W Elky Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 I like it .These look great in satin or flat black I like your splash of color on the bottom. I’ve had at least a half a dozen of these amt 40 fords they are such a pleasure to build not real complicated or over detailed . Nice job
Zippi Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Looks like it's ready for the Nostalgia Drag races at the local track. Nicely done and a Great looking 40 Ford. Love the ole fat fenders.
stavanzer Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Well Done! Your Tu-Tone Colours really make it stand out. Looks like something from the Nostalgia Drags.
Leica007 Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 I like it too, the color choices really grab the eyes, simple but very effective.
papajohn97 Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Agree with others here on your color selection David, perfect for an early period gasser. Turquoise was really popular in the 50’s/ early 60’s and it really clicks with the satin black. Nice job! Please build and post more classic drag subjects!
