What happened to PIF?

I've been away a couple years, what happened to the PIF thread? Or Kit roulette I called it?

It was suspended due to Covid.

I believe it's safe to start it up again.

Yea, I miss it to. There were always some kits that I just couldn't live without.

I just enjoyed seeing the oddball stuff that showed up from time to time.

I don't think the disappearance was entirely Covid-related.

 

 

lolz. Think I can find that thread anywhere? Spend the last 20 minutes searching, couldn't find it.

 

Anyway...

 

If I recall, it stopped being fun, as a lot of people started complaining about the kits that were offered up. 

Too common, too many curbsides, not enough choice, etc.

So instead of just moving on after seeing nothing they liked, people would complain.

And then people started saying there needed to be some rules. And then the rules suggested got out of hand.

Kind of took the fun out of it.

 

Which is too bad, because there was some good stuff there, and because of that thread I started talking to a few people around here. Yes, that thread turned into socialization and friendships. 

 

I for one would welcome its return.

IIRC the PIF went off the rails when one member claimed a kit then there was a fairly long delay. In the meantime another member took it upon himself to put up a kit which sent the thread off kilter. When the last claimant returned he was severely CHAStized by other members here. It turned out that he was going through some difficult circumstances at that time, I believe it had something to do with a relative and their health. He did post up a kit but after the abuse he received from members here I don't think he is still an active member. 

The PIF was a good thing but that is when I was glad to see the thread gone.

I also miss/liked/participated the PIF!    .....but! the outrageous costs of shipping lately, IMHO think would add a whole new problematic facet of problems!   ?

And it troubles me....the rates of our comrades north of the border!!

That became an issue, some didn't want to ship internationally.

Yeah, Covid didn't help, but there were a lot of reasons why it stopped working. 

 

What's interesting is that a lot of the people who  took part in that thread weren't using the Trading Post section otherwise.
