HRM May 2012 had a little trip down memory lane with the Bill Mitchell '60 Pontiac X-400 concept in the background, and the Mickey Thompson '60 Assault I dragster in the foreground.

The 1960 X-400 in the photo would was apparently based on the Bonneville

Of the other X-400's referred to, the '62 is a Grand Prix

'63 X-400 is working up to a GTO

'64 X-400 has all the earmarks of that wonderful GTO design

As for the MT Attempt I referred to above, it can be had in scale model form...

Fantastic mutt-mobile totally made for Mad Max movies!

One of the better mix 'n match rod pickups, I always thought.

Troy Trepanier '69 Ford Torino in bare metal. Oh how I wish they would have just clear-coated it so we could enjoy that metalwork forever! :)

And if you think your scale model builds take forever, here is the "Indy Speedster V8" lovingly built one handmade piece at a time by a gentleman named Jackie Howerton, purchased by one Bill Lindig, turned over to Pete Chapouris and the So-Cal Speed Shop for completion, motor completed by Art Chrisman, and winner of AMBR 2012. And all that only took 18 years!

HRM February 2013 had a drawing come to life; in this case a Thom Taylor wedge-shaped '32 roadster brought to life by Dan and Ashley Webb, along with Craig Naff.

The style was reminiscent of a couple of '34 Fords done by Darrell Zipp (and known colloquially as "Zippers")

If you look up Hand Built Cars on youtube and then start scrolling back, you can see a full build up on Troy's Torino. There are other great ones too.

Thom's 32 is the best!

That mid engine Mustang is another one on Hand Built Cars. I was hoping to see it here.

I've actually seen it at SEMA. It felt like it stood about 2 feet tall, and 8 feet wide! :)

An improbable yet magnificent example of a '34 Ford Street/Strip beast! (And yes, it does have a radiator - - it's just hidden in the trunk) :)

If you like swoopy art-deco styles, look no further than Rick Dore. In this instance, his creation known as "The Black Pearl" graced the pages of HRM December 2014.

And speaking of styling, here is another creation that should be named "bland to the bone".

(Just looking to see if anyone is paying attention :))
