ModelcarJR Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 I'm working on another one that I painted several weeks ago while the weather was much nicer. I've built this one before and the photo has the most recent build. Except for the poorly engraved interior bucket, the engine, compartment, and chassis are very good. I added arm rests to the interior last build but I'm not going to do it this time. This one is Dupli-Color Super Red with a black and white interior. Thanks for looking! ? 4
TransAmMike Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 Looking great there John. Love those Olds'!!
ModelcarJR Posted November 19, 2022 Author Posted November 19, 2022 Thanks, Mike and Jeremy! I appreciate your comments! Interior is done. I didn't spend a lot of time with it. Here are some photos. Thanks for looking! 2
espo Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 They both look great. I'm partial to the red colored one.
slusher Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Really nice looking interior and dash John!
ModelcarJR Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 Thanks, David and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Finished the engine and I apologize for the blurry photos. I guess I'll have to download the manual for this camera and figure out how to operate it! Technology is such a PITA! I added spark plug wires and a coil from tube stock. The air cleaner is not glued yet so that I can position the snorkels where I need to in the bay. Thanks for looking! ? 1
c. jackson Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 these are still great kits.... ive built many of them.
ModelcarJR Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 Thanks, Cary! I appreciate your comment and I agree! The chassis is done, engine is in and the wheels are on! Windows will be next and then final assembly! Thanks for looking! ?
ModelcarJR Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 Thanks, Jeremy! I appreciate your comment! Its on wheels! I also added the back bumper to keep the rear end down. Just a few more pieces and some foil on the front of the hood. I guess I'll add the decals too. Not sure yet. Thanks for looking!
Andy Oldenburg Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Cool build, clean work and fine detailing. ?You mentioned applying the large decals on the body. I´ve had my issues with big decals. I coat them with a clear spray first to keep them sturdy. but often enough they rip while applying. I have the Revell decal softener but somehow a certain "special method" is missing during my process. You have any advice?
ModelcarJR Posted November 24, 2022 Author Posted November 24, 2022 Thanks, Carl and Andy! I appreciate your comments1 Andy, I sometimes use clear lacquer but usually if the kit is relatively new like this one I just cut them out with a no 11 knife, put them in water for a few seconds and slide them off of the paper with a brush. Once in place I brush them with some Micro-Sol and soak up an excess with the corner of a Kleenex. I may brush them until all the bubbles are out and then just let them dry. This one is done! A few photos are without mirrors because I forgot to put them on but now have them on. Now I have two 442 W-30s and one 442 without the W-30 option. Thanks for looking! ? 2
