Dave B Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Just something different I built a couple of years back. Based on a SMER Alfa 158 with scratch built hull using styrene & timber used by the boat builders Dave B
Jairus Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 BEAUTIFUL! How did I miss this and when did you post it?
Bernard Kron Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) Very nice indeed. I really like the intake nacel, a nice touch well blended into the original bodywork. All in all, terrific idea beautifully executed. Edited February 4, 2009 by gbk1

rv1963 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Beautiful clean build and the shine on that paint is amazing.
Peter Lombardo Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 This sure is different! Very clever use of the Alfa body. I love the ingenuity and workmanship.
george 53 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 WoW!, Talk about unique! THAT'S COOL! Flights of the imagination don't usually land so well! The decking is BEAUTIFUL, and the whole thing is just too cool! Great build, GREAT imagination for doin it!Outstanding build!
Smart-Resins Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 BEAUTIFUL! How did I miss this and when did you post it? What can I say that has not been said already by EVERYONE!! Jody
MicroNitro Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 That is just too cool, Do you have any photos from when you were building it? I would love to see them.
alfa_owner Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Absolutely fantasic, your imagination on this is top notch, and the build quality too is superb.
Dave B Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 Thanks all for your thoughts. I'll try to answer the questions raised!! I did post it on another forum a couple of years back when first built. SMER re-issued the Merit Alfa & Lago Talbot (not quite as pretty for this type of build). Sorry no pics during the build. I found a set of old plans for a gas powered hydro so scaled them down & built the stringers, hull etc from styrene sheet & covered the deck after, bit of a cheat but it worked. I do plan to build a mate for it later, possibly Ferrari powered (250SWB/GTO motor), so will take some pics as a WIP. Tks Dave B
jbwelda Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 that is incredible! and a ferrari powered companion will be perfect!
Jairus Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Wow, If I had the time to take on ONE more project... I might even consider to build my own version with a Maserati 250 inline 6. Red of course!
Jairus Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 NO! DUESENBERG supercharged straight eight!!!! Ohhhh yeeeeaaaahhhh!
Jairus Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 .... with a boat tail of course!  (I gotta get some sleep...)
Raul_Perez Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Very cool idea and beautifully executed!! The wood finish with the red paint makes a perfect combination!! Thanks for sharing,
