peteski Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 If you stretch heat shrink tubing to reduce its diameter and wall thickens, if you heat it up it will compress back to its original wall thickens/diameter while it is also shrinking. Also when shrinking unstretched tubing, yes it will shrink in diameter but its wall thickness will increase. I figured I mention that so everybody has a complete picture of what can happen If you want some really small diameter tubing, the Kapton insulation from ordinary 30AWG wire wrapping wire can be stretched the same way as shrink tubing. That results in very small and thin-wall tubing. Make sure to get the Kapton insulated wire, not the cheaper vinyl. The only issue is that the color of the tubing will lighten a bit when stretched.

It was the only wire that would fit through the Detail Master looms but I have only two colors; a light blue and a light red and neither of them look legit. I absolutely refuse to pay the price for the stuff sold by the hobby vendors. So, if you don't do that...what do you use that will work with the PE looms and where do you get it? I have bought wire off Fleabay and gotten stuff from the People's Republic but I've run out of the good colors and I don't want to go there again for obvious reasons. AWG 30 with Tynar insulation (pictured)is about the best I've been able to find so far but I'm not really happy with it. I prefer to buy bulk because it's waaaaaaaay cheaper. Is this asking too much? ? Expand I have DM looms and don't bother using them anymore. I don't believe properly sized wire fits them...and I've tried a lot. Use one of the alternatives listed previously and make your own looms is my suggestions. 1

In that case the holes will be smaller than designed. The way to fix that is to ream out the undersized holes with a drill bit.

Expand Yeah, tried that. They are so thin that drilling isn't an option. Thanks.
Belugawrx Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Check out Micron Meters..I bought 3, 50' rolls of 34 awg single solid core wire for about $30
Chariots of Fire Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Bead wire works well. 0.015 size works best. Comes in a spool in different colors.
