I have a brand new Moebius International Lonestar kit. These kits are expensive as everyone knows. Anyway one of my frame rails is warped so bad it has a corkscrew like effect to it. I haven't tried gluing it to the other rail and cross members yet I'm afraid to. I paid way to much for this kit for one piece of it to scrap the whole kit. Has anyone else had this problem, and how can it be fixed? Here's a couple of pictures of the warped rail.

If you can, get it aligned so it's straight, by attaching it to a board with rubber bands, clamps or whatever means you can figure, and use hot water to straighten it. It will likely take a few attempts, but, it should work.

That would be my first reaction. Why have to unnecessarily have to rectify a malformed part of you can get it replaced?

That makes sense, to me. Oddly, it wouldn't be my first thought--unless it was something that I didn't think would be worth messing with. Dang, Noel, you have me examining my thoughts, regarding this--or maybe my reaction, to it.

How about just getting back to the manufacturer for a replacement before trying to repair the part first?

My first thought too. But, it's painted. Moebius may not replace it now. They could contend that the paint used on it caused it to warp. Not saying they would. Just that they possibly could. Why would anyone paint a badly warped part?

Warped parts are a recurring issue for Moebius. If you have a Moebius kit, you better open it and inspect it! Don't wait!

I didn't notice it was warped before I painted it. I just left all of the chassis parts on the trees when I painted them. But it looks like it's going to be ok. I glued everything together and with the engine it's almost perfectly straight.

Looks like because of the length of it your assembly of the chassis with the engine, front wheels, transmission and rear axles rigidised it, took out the twist and trued it up well.

Therefore, problem solved saving a lot of hassle!  Good luck with the rest of the build and hopefully it will be free of any other distorted bits.
