cheyenne93 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 So, hoping I haven't bittin off more than I can do. A friends wife has asked me if I could build a replica of her hubbies 77 Malibu Classic, and I said. I'll give it a go. For warned her it was not going to be a quick build. So have gotten these three kits to try to build one. My progress so far. Any input and insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks for lookin. 3
MeatMan Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Great project! I can't give any advice because it looks like you could teach me a thing or two.
cheyenne93 Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 Making a little progress on the Malibu. Think I got the front wheel well shaped pretty well. Had to build them back out. Shaved off all the stockcar stuff, hood pins and rivets, windshield and rear window keepers. Shaped out door handles. Oened up landau windows. So far have got the Monte Carlo headlights fit to the Lenny Pond grill. The Lenny Pond grille attached to the cannon ball Malibu. Using the Monte Carlo interior tub. Front bumper also from the Lenny Pond. Made parking light openings in the bumper and honeycomb mess in the grill. Trying to find a back bumper that will work. Comments always welcome.
cheyenne93 Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 Making some progress on the malibu. Having fun with this one. Still need to do a little more work on the front wheel wells, but getting close, (I think) Need to find some malibu classic badge decals if anyone knows of a source. As always feel free to comment and give input
cheyenne93 Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 Bean awhile since I've posted. This is how the Malibu is shaping up. Still need to prime it after having to do a little more body work. Think I got it pretty well where it needs to be. Got the 77 Monte Carlo interior tub fitting pretty well. Flocked the dash and floor. Dash in the 1:1 is carpeted. Engines looking pretty good? Thanks for lookin feel free to comment. 1
Bainford Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 That’s looking great. You’re nailing the look. Nice engine, too.
