bobbykos Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Another one of the guys who have been away from modelling for a long time. Have not built a model since before I was married and and that's getting close to 50 years (married that is). In 1967 when I was 16 years I went to a drag race and saw a gorgeous black 1967 426 Hemi Plymouth GTX. It was love at first site and I vowed that I would some day own one just like it. The exact car is coming up at Mecum's auction this month with an estimated hammer price of $125,000.00 to $150,000.00. Although I might be able to afford it, the divorce would bankrupt me so I did the next best thing and bought the Revell model kit. I will have my dream car at last, just in a smaller version. Second on the list will be to try to duplicate my dear departed Honda CRX race car which will be a bit of a challenge but I will take my time and give it a shot. If I am successful with these builds, I will look into doing the Monte Carlo that Earl Ross won the Old Dominion 500 with at Martinsville in the early 80's and then doing a Junior Hanley stock car if I can find a correct body. Last in the plans would be a a tribute to a 1969 Hemi Road Runner nostalgia Super Stock that a friend of mine owns. If I get through these and am still on the right side of the sod, who knows what might be next. 1
Zippi Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Welcome aboard Bob. Yeah, that 1967 Plymouth GTX has the best body style.
Bainford Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Welcome to the forum, Bob. You’ve got some cool projects on deck. Looking forward to the Junior Hanley car coming around. Cheers.
