You know they can make gasoline from garbage now? Seriously there is a plant in the south making diesel fuel from the waste at turkey plants, its coming out at $5 a gallon so not quite economically feasable just yet, but it is possible. The same process can use a lot of the trash currently going to landfills. He wants to leave a legacy of making Oregon as "green" as he can, regardless if it makes any financial or common sense or not. Understand, I think we need to look toward "greener" ways of doing things, but within reason.We have two more years of this, hopefully he won't completely bankrupt the state with his ideas.

Hate to tell you this, Brian, but the state already is bankrupt. I'm waiting for them to impose the sales tax. As for the tire deal, CA tried to do something like that a couple of years ago. But it was for bolt-on parts for motors. That bill was shot down in CA. Same thing is going to happen here in OR. Let's just say our politicians in OR are idiots. That's why I want to join the State of Jefferson. (If you live in Southern OR or Northern CA, you'll know what that means.)

But unfortunately I recognize very little of my home state day by day. The crazies from good ol'Cali have have driven their beemers up here and bought McMansions with their millions. Now they are trying to make Oregon over in their own image. King Kulongoski is an idiot who is completely removed from the wishes and will of the people. He will not last another election. You think the car accessories problem is big? That is nothing compared to the Greenies who want to remove all the dams so the fish can spawn unfettered of the roadblocks "man" put into their way. Oh... yeah! The same greenies who want solar and wind to be our sole source of GREEN power.... WANT TO SPEND BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS OF TAX PAYERS MONEY TO REMOVE SOLID CONCRETE AND STONE DAMS WHICH PRODUCE HYDRO ELECTRIC POWER! You read that right! Hydro-electric power is the greenest and most renewable of all sources of electric power. Yet the Liberal Green party believes we should give it up for the FISH and depend on the wind and the sun. Oh.. by the way, it rains up here 45% of the year which means solar is worthless and flooding a distinct problem with out the dams for control. But at least we will have fish to eat.... Perhaps they should impose a wash and wax law, too. Everybody has to wash and wax their car each Sunday, becuase we all know that a shiny, slippery vehicle moves thru the air better and will give one gazillionth better mpg. Our founding forefathers would probably tar and feather these guys. Perhpas the most astounding thing about this is that some people must think this is a good idea. geeeeezzz..............

Bonneville dam on the Columbia has a nice one with observation windows and a beautiful visitors center where you can watch the salmon swim upstream. But that would be the intelligent thing to do... James W Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Lets not forget about flood control which was the primary reason most of these dams were built to begin with. Hydro power was a side benefit. Without these dams the rivers flood the valleys when it rains and go near dry in the summer. Thats great in a wilderness, but now KFalls is farmland and homes for families with kids and pets(threw that in to get the simpathy thing going) What do you supose this great brain trust of Oregon and California is going to do about flooding and providing irrigation water?

Seriously? THAT'S the issue??? Gee, shouldn't the fact that a giant concrete dam across the river just might interfere with the little fishies freedom of movement have been discussed back when the dams were on the drawing board??? Even now, if the issue is the fish, it would be INCREDIBLY cheaper and easier to build fish ladders around the dam instead of removing it... wouldn't it??? They can't really be seriously considering tearing out the dam... can they?

It's this type of thing that makes those of us who are environmentally conscious look bad. There's a difference between the greenies and the environmental friendly. The greenies like to do things that will be a big show, but have minimal impact on them. This is what I sent to Oregon. The state of Oregon is about to become involved in a discussion on a measure to restrict tire use to OEM tires. This will be based on a rolling resistance calculation. It is very important that this bill be not passed. This will limit freedom of commerce. It will also be not possible to legally administer this law, as this is regulated by the federal government. Also one must remember that there is NO such thing as an OEM tire. They're all made by the aftermarket. This bill also is against us environmentalists. It takes away the focus on such things as mass transit and alternative transportation (such as walking). I will be watching this subject with great interest. I am becoming fed up with all of these ANTI-ENVIRONMENTAL bills that are proposed by "show-environmentalists. That's those who are doing things that show, but have little or no impact on them or the environment. At the same time, their victims, those of us who are actual environmentalists, take the flack for their actions. If you want to do something about the environment, improve mass transit and educate people to use it, or get off your lazy duffs and walk. Leave the automobiles alone, that's just a magician's smoke and mirrors. It is a false statement to say that this bill is environmental. It is therefore, dishonest and illegal right from the beginning. I'm encouraging everybody I come in contact with to watch what is happening with this bill. What happens in one state has a tendency to move to other states. I'm from Alaska, and I'll be using the outcome of this to educate people here to know what their legislators are doing to them. We trust these people to do what's best for us, and yet we get this kind of bills. I have children and grandchildren that have to live in this world, and it's important to make sure that what's left to them is as pure as possible. That's why I'm encouraging everybody to fight ANTI-ENVIRONMENTAL issues such as yours. H.B. 2186 is not an environmental bill. Douglas Long

The truck was equipped with a 215 ci six capable of a breakneck speed of 50 M P H !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Secondly , I don't know if any of you model builders out there know Mr Bob Drake in Grants pass Oregon. He manufactures reproduction Ford parts , and dang good ones too! I have bought several thousand dollars from Bob and his staff. Ive spoken to him on the phone but I've yet to have had the pleasure of ever meeting him. My 53 Ford Panel delivery runs on account of Bob ! if it wern't for Bob Drake , I know several Ford truck owners out there whose trucks would be resting in a yard because some IDIOT SELF CENTERED DO GOODY LIAR, UH LAWYER LEGISLATURE in Portland trying to "Make a difference for the COMMUNITY !
