Merkur XR4Ti Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 From the new Salvino's kit. Paint is Tamiya French Blue. 6
Bainford Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Very nice Petty Plymouth. My favourite of the King's racers. Well done.
Johnny Canuck Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Nice, tidy job. Not a wonder this kit is rapidly disappearing from the marketplace. I agree about painting the body. The molded blue is a good try but not quite the right shade.

I just heated the can and applied 2 or 3 light-to-medium coats. Got a great finish that way.
bbowser Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Looks good! How long did he campaign this car?

Like this, one year. 1972 brought STP as a sponsor, so after the first race at Riverside, the car was blue and red. He also started using Dodge Chargers along with the Plymouth that year, but went strictly with the Charger the following year
Horrorshow Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Great build. Mine is in transit…I’m like a kid at Christmas again ?
MarkJ Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Excellent build as always, Steve. It's great that Salvino's brought this car back for us to build. The old MPC's are hard to find and very expensive if you do.
