Getting started on my entry for the 2023 t.r.o.g group build. I picked up the amt '29 woody/pickup. I didnt realize this kit the fenders and frame are molded together but the california t.r.o.g doesnt have rules against running them, so its up in the air if ill cut them off or not. So far i think ill run the kits flatty v8 and im thinking of swapping the kits wheels for some parts box artillery wheels. I also need to decide on which body to run, the woodys pretty cool but im not sure if it fits this build. But then again woodys and the california surf scene go together??

Started working on the '29 and realized the pickup option on the truck must have been an after thought

Building the truck or the woody!

I decided to go with the pickup body, it made the most sense to me

Kinda dig this already... Where did the wheels and tires originally come from?

The revell '37 ford pickup

Engines built, might grease it up a bit. Home made header and intake, engine is wired up. A glue bomb revell model a donated the carb and head

The bed floor had some ugly molding sink holes, so i cut it out and will build one out of wood strips

Started mocking up the body, debating on removing the splash shields or not

I would leave the splash shields on. Gives it a more dual purpose (street/strip) feel, which is what would have mostly been running on the beaches back in the day. Drive to the beach, strip off the headlights and fenders and maybe remove the windshield, then go racing. I believe the reason the splash guard remain on dual purpose racers is that they are very time consuming to remove at the event since the attachment points are buried under the body
