There’s a great thread here (with advise from sources I consider trustworthy) - I’m not sure how much of this crosses over to the Model A tho…

Hunter Green is a good replication of the original Ford green.

Several manufacturers offer 'Hunter Green' in their lines. I found Walmart's Color Place brand commonly available and very user-friendly as well as matching the expensive paint I bought for my 1:1 Model AA.

Danno, is Tamiya British green close?

Slusher,

I doubt it. I've never checked it out against Hunter Green, but when I have seen it on its own it seems too green, too deep, and always too glossy.

Some of the Online references, indicate that the shade of green varied from batch to batch.

I'd use what ever you have, and be happy with it.

I've started with hunter green craft paint but it doesn't end there. I just just keep mixing till I get the machinery green/gray look which should be pretty accurate. By the time it's weathered it looks fine to me. I've also started with malachite green craft paint and done the same with that. Somewhere in my mix will be white and a touch of black to bring in the slight gray tone. But as far as buying the right color off the shelf I couldn't say what to use.

It did indeed vary from batch to batch. Here's some shots from the Model A & AA Paint & finish guide.  Also a couple photos of Engine Green from a chassis I restored for a customer years ago. Note how the color changes according to light source. It's the only photos I have on this computer without digging around on thumb drives, but it gives you an idea.
