This is Looking Fine. A great job of setting the proper ride height.

Thank you Alan, it’s a bit of work but the results are worth it.

How do you plan to hold down the hood? I need to address this issue myself and m thinking of adding some angle brackets...very tiny ones. ?

Damnit Jim i‘m a model builder not an engineer! Sorry can’t resist. Now there is a predicament I had not thought of. Maybe some old leather straps.

Yeah, uh.....nah....it looks like it's wearing suspenders. I'll take wing nuts before I go that route.

Ya see Bil? This is the sort of ? that totally bogs me down on my builds. I will sit there and wonder "what would Steven do?" And then just do nothing until I give up and then go watch television. I have got to have a visable solution as if  it was a real 1:1. Is that nutty? ?

Who is Steven? I get your point though, I actually did a google search and could not come up with a viable soloution besides the “suspenders”! I presume that there is a sort of device that would hold the hood down like a pinned bracket. With that being stated I guess the truck will be hoodless now.

But only if it bothers you that there is no visable means of securing it. I think in the old- the really old days they used leather straps. Our high-schooler has access to the MIG machine in shop class so he has the teacher weld some light angle brackets on the bottom of the hood flanges and tack nuts on the inside to catch hex head bolts... make 'em stainless for looks.  That oughtta hold it. I think that's how I will do it. I have very small evergreen angle. I'm going to get back on that roadster to try and finish it up tomorrow. I need to see a 1:1 hood. There may not be anything to weld a bracket to. I dunno ?

OK, the fiberglass smoothie has flanges that could, with some reinforcement, support angle brackets. The OEM hood could possibly have enough hinge "meat" to weld something to. I'm going with angle brackets or just tabs that a bolt can go through. Yeah.

Know what? Just glue the hood on and forget it. R-78.jpg.ffb32eede0c7663298008773f6c603c2.jpg

I don't know why I sweat this stuff. ?

Well we could presume that the centre hinge mount was modified so that it could support the smoothed hood and still provide a way to hold the hood on to the car, and remain hidden, who said our high schoolers weren’t a crafty lot!

Maybe something like this?  This was on a 1930, half hood set up, but could put pins on all four underside corners of hood to go into recesses in firewall and rad shroud?

Thanks Brian, that may be the ticket! @customline Jim now you can slam your roadster hood shut!

Whatever you end up doing with it, I'm sure it will look cool.

It's fun watching these builds develop.

Thanks David G. The best part of the buildup to me is the idea sharing between other members. I’ve learned quite a lot watching others builds and always try to employ those new ideas into current and future builds.

Ok let’s get this back on track(ish). When we last left our hero… whoops wrong backstory!

Ok we left off at an exhaust system so let’s continue there. Using bits n cuts from the stock exhaust of the AMT 34 ford coupe kit we can start to see a basic keep it legal Johnny/avoid the fuzz style. It will terminate just at the rear axle. And that will almost lead us up to some paint on the frame, I’ll be using the stock lever shocks as this is a high schooler hotrod.
more soon

Ride height looks bitchin, BB ?

Thanks Jim, I’m liking it again, this one is playing nice so it gets the spotlight on the bench! Hoping to get some colour shot this weekend!

Any chance of getting the front wheels in a bit?

They sit a little nicer when I don’t pose it with them turned!

It looks great in primer, I can only imagine how it's going to look with some paint on it!

The chassis came out quite nicely too.

Thank you David G, had some issues with the way the back was sitting so I have had to push the frame back into the shop for adjustments. Someday I’m just going to build one in Primer as I love the blank canvas look, especially in red oxide.
