Engine 51 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 After a year and a half it is complete. Much more work than I bargained for. The interior is fully detailed, the pre connects are all scratch built as well as the wheel chock docks. Scratch built the rota-beam, and opened up the grill. Glad it’s finished, on to the next one….. 10
vincen47 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Love it! Worth the extra time it required, I’d say. You don’t see a whole lot of these built, especially any that go beyond a box-stock paint scheme and detail. Nice paint design and detail upgrades. Blacked-out wheels are a fine touch, too.
Joe Nunes Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Well done! You have a lot of nice detailing on this model and the project came out looking great. ? Joe
Dutzie Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Excellent work here! The details are amazing!
Engine 51 Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 Thanks to all for the kind words. The encouragement helps after a long hard build like this one was.
Ron Hamilton Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Looks great! I just got a kit for myself. I live near College Park, MD., and I have seen that truck a few times. 2
Bren Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 What a terrific model. You put a lot of work into that and it paid off. Very clean build. Congratulations! If you cared to share any of your tips or tricks I’m sure we’d all love to hear more. Resin parts? Any tricks you learned scratch building? Anything you would do different if you had to do it again? 1

The handline nozzles and some of the connectors are resin. The photoetch parts were a real nightmare to deal with. The fit of the parts on the front of the truck left something to be desired. One other thing, if I ever build it again I would not put as much time and effort into the interior, as it is hidden once it’s finished. All that said, it is a very impressive truck when its complete, and it looks great in my display case. 1
GLMFAA1 Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Great job on the model. just about the same time it takes for a department to get a real one. greg 1
