Misha Posted June 28 Posted June 28 While my Holy Grail list is gradually being reduced (my latest find was the MPC Mako Shark II in mint unbuilt condition!) the most elusive kit is Monogram’s Starbird Futurista released in 1965 and 1967. While being a typically simple kit of the time, it was molded in yellow and red with Monogram's high gloss finish, a plus for me as painting bodies was a skill to be perfected yet. Being a Starbird fan, his three wheeler has been my favourite bubble top. Powered by a hopped up VW four banger and painted in white pearl is my vision for display in the cabinet! The search continues… Cheers Misha
Spooker Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) This one: Bandai/AHM 1/12 scale STP Turbine I have owned two of them, mint in the box, over the years. Sold them because I didn't have the confidence in my skills to dare to build them. Now that I am "ready" they are stupid expensive (like $1000 or so) so I may never get another. Indycals decals are available now, too! Edited June 28 by Spooker
Spooker Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I have the Trickle Mustang, it's the worst one in that series. Body doesn't fit the chassis, sits really high unless you do a TON of modifications to cage, suspension, exhaust and interior tin work. All the others look good OOB. It fills out my collection but will probably never get built. 1

oldcarfan Posted June 30 Posted June 30 These last few years my tastes have changed, and I've pretty much gotten those kits I still want. During COVID I was down with it three times and so spent a lot of time in bed or on the couch. That was good for my eBay hunting but bad for my wallet. The one thing I've wanted more than anything else is the Otaki Lamborghini Cheetah. Every one I found went for way more than I could afford. On the bright side I got a really good deal on two Otaki 1/24th Porsche 911s. The other thing I'm still searching for is a decent 1/24th Lamborghini LM002. I had a 1/24th toy diecast that had an accurate body, and I'd planned to build it up, but I misplaced it somehow.
Chris V Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I recently acquired another one of mine: The original issue Revell “Highway Pioneers” 1:32 1932 Ford Roadster from 1954:
gtx6970 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 My grail MPC Barry Setzer Vega funnycar I own a mint sealed inside kit as well as a few decent builders Followed real close by the Johan 1969 GTX and the MPC 1968 Color Me Gone Funnycar
Falcon Ranchero Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Should've also mentioned the '62 Galaxie hardtop, was hoping to find one to build a replica of the one my grandfather had. Issued in '62 and once more in '69 by AMT, and I think Modelhaus did one way later but they're still very hard to find. A modelhaus one for sale on ebay one province over is going for about $200, not cheap either. 1
