I'll start.

EDIT: I meant this thread to be about music streaming available only over the internet, not broadcast over the radio (like XM), but I failed to make that clear in the original title

Soma FM is commercial-free, listener-supported, and streams a variety of genres people who have grown beyond today's repetitive mainstream pap might find to their liking...and it's free if you think you deserve something for nothing.  ;)

I've been listening on various devices since they first fired up in early 2000.

I use two.

Spotify of course being the big one. I pay for the Premium tier, and I love it. I rarely listen to anything else when driving. Unlimited playlists, and I almost never get stumped when searching for artists I like.

The other is Gimme Metal. www.gimmemetal.com

It's free, and it's all metal.

I still have my SiriusXM subscriptions for home and in my old Tahoe. There are a few stations we like . And I can stream it through the app as well.

And I still buy CDs.

:)

I prefer Napster! The name was used for a peer-to-peer file sharing service, the one Metallica had such a beef with...... now it's the name of the streaming service. Not long ago, they got bought by a company called Hivemind. This new company revamped the service to include videos, both live performances and Mtv style videos. For $10.99 a month, you can listen to (or watch) all the music you want....... I've not one complaint about the service!

and most of you will like the logo..... a cat wearing headphones........

Give a listen to Rough Power [1972, c.1993] which was issued by Bomp! (now out-of-print). It's the early, "rough" cut of the Stooges Raw Power , and consists of a broadcast from WABX in which Iggy was in the studio (not on-air) with the tapes.

I mention this because it's a fine example of how FM used to be in its heyday.
