Funkychiken Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Trying to keep kits on the go, I started this about a month or 2 ago, and made reasonable progress. Its actually quite detailed for an Airfix kit. I've had some success with the Ford Fiesta, so wanted to give it a friend.
Funkychiken Posted April 8, 2023 Author Posted April 8, 2023 I didn't take many interim shots, but this is the result of nearly 2 months of work. I tend to remove everything from the sprus, clean up, sand etc, wash, then mount for grey primer (Zero Paints) and then a mixture of Zero paints, or Tamiya Acrylics for painting. Mostly Airbrushed but some details are hand painted.
Funkychiken Posted April 8, 2023 Author Posted April 8, 2023 I normally paint the inside of the body shell too, this time, I just masked it, its never seen anyway. Masked with Tamiya masking tape, sprayed in Tamiya Red & Tamiya racing white aerosol cans...
Funkychiken Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 This is actually quite a detailed kit. Could be turned into a great kit, but its too fiddly for my weak fingers. the only problem I've had is the non-positive location for the wheel supports, if you get it wrong, then the wheels will all be at different heights Chassis and interior finished.
Funkychiken Posted April 10, 2023 Author Posted April 10, 2023 Decals on, and clear coated today, wait for it to dry for some pics
iBorg Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 It looks much more detailed than some 1/25th scale kits. This build is getting me to want one. 1
Funkychiken Posted April 13, 2023 Author Posted April 13, 2023 Clear coated with Zero 2K 2 mist coats and 1 heavy coat with about 5 mins between coats. went on well, no major issues or dust (took some advise from Dann here!) but lots of ripply finished areas, its going to need a lot of sanding
Bugatti Fan Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 This is a very nice build of what looks to be a very good kit. Airfix have made someĀ really nice 1/32nd scale car kits in recent years. Not sure why they stick with this scale though whilst 1/24th is so much more popular. And now they are beginning to go into 1/43rd scale too. 1
