stavanzer Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Which kit has the best "Cammer: for street use. I know that the motor got kitted a few times, and that the Ohio George '33 Willis has a blown version, but I'd like one for a street car. I know Tim Boyd did a photo comparison in Scale Auto a few years ago, but I no longer have the back issues to dig thru to find int. Any body have a copy of that they could scan here? Other wise, where would I get a decent copy of the engine. I do not mind having to purchase a couple kits if I need to to kit bash a good engine. Thanks, Alan
LDO Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 It’s not in a kit. It’s 3D printed by Texas 3D Customs. I’ve bought several engines from him. Some for me and some to ship to a friend in New Zealand. The last batch included a Ford Cammer. It was spectacular. He also offers blown and carbureted. https://tx3dcustoms.com/products/ford-427-sohc-hilborn-injected
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) I started a thread on this way back in 2018. In the meantime, as LDO mentions, Texas 3D has done an indeed spectacular rendition. Although the Hilborn-style injection setup shown isn't exactly streetable (unless you add fuel rails to convert it to an EFI rig), you can make a single or dual 4-bbl manifold if you start with something that has the right head offset and port spacing. It's also WAY cheaper than buying enough kits to old-school kitbash a good one. The old thread is below. Edited April 12, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy 1
LDO Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Dual carb https://tx3dcustoms.com/products/ford-427-sohc-dual-carb 1
Force Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 For engine from kits there are a Cammer with dual carbs in both the AMT 66 Ford Galaxie and the 68 Shelby. 1
tim boyd Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Steve Perry at Calnaga.com has done some very involved work in developing super-accurate 427 SOHC components in 1/25th scale. May want to check those out...TB

Mark Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Figure out which cam covers you want before getting started, as Ford made a bunch of different ones considering how few engines they actually made. I spotted three different styles in the George Montgomery book, and I know there are other ones besides those.
stavanzer Posted April 12, 2023 Author Posted April 12, 2023 Thanks, Hakan, Tim, Mark, Jesse, Ace & Lee. You have given me much to digest.

The Hilborn Injected version does already have fuel rails and yes there are single and dual carb versions as well, so no need to make a manifold for that. Then there's the blown versions as well. Probably at some point will do a tunnel ram as well, because why not. 1 1
