A 70's F350  4x4 would have been a rare bird in 1:1, would have been an aftermarket conversion  by Napco, curious if it comes with a  2WD twin I beam front suspension also.

Not so sure on this.  ALL wreckers (unless it's mounted in a standard pickup bed (which can be done)) were generally ordered as cab only units, and then Napco, Holmes, whomever would chop off the last bit of the frame rails to mount their own proprietary bed.  What the cab chassis is (250/350 2x4/4x4) is largely up to the builder.  PTO mounts are all over the place depending on preferences.  Many of the wreckers we looked at were 4x4's.  But yes, it could also be built up with the twin I beam fronts if you've got the spares.  You'll need to come up with your own PTO though.

Erik,

When can we reasonably expect these to hit the shelves? I have heard everything from July to October so if you could give us a better estimate that would be great.

Hopefully we'll have them around mid-September.  So many things need to line up for no delays to happen and it seems like it's always something.  Port workers strike, new pandemic, zombie apocalypse, take your pick!

Up for pre-order now on the Pegasus Hobbies site (sorry, USA only).  Will be shipping when they get here, whenever that is.  Model Roundup is already down for a grip of them, so they'll be getting them asap too.

Model king going to be part of this?  I was just thinking they was going to be made here. I have no idea where I got that idea. The fist batch will sell out.

Model King will be getting a bunch of them too, but it's not a MK exclusive.  They're getting the Strickler AWB Dodge which should also be coming soon.  Before the wrecker, but not by much.  When the wrecker sells out, we'll be making more!

HPIGUYS has a video out with the kit test shots and it looks amazing. I note there are both 2 and 4 wheel drive front wheels and rear springs included and also note the grille is for a ‘71 not a ‘72 as shown on the box. Shades of the plow truck. Speaking of the plow truck wouldn’t the substitution of the front push bar with the plow assembly look neat?

My plans for this kit involve an unused brush fire truck bed from an old MPC Chevy C-10 kit.

One of Mine will be a 2WD M-100 Mercury Wrecker from Dog River, Saskatchewan.

The other will be a 4x4 Wrecker from California. And I like the Plow instead of the push bar. I might try that. Would be something you'd have seen in Mammoth Lake, Bishop, or Mt. Shasta.

Do It! Do it! Do It!

I would have to make it detachable, that adds a lot to the length of the truck.

Doing a quick comparison of the frame from the Moebius '72 Ranger with Snowplow kit and the frame shown in the Hpiguys Workshop YouTube video review of the wrecker kit, it looks like the two kits will be using the same frame (and sprue).  So if you have a snow plow hanging around from the Moebius kit, it should be relatively easy to add a snow plow to the wrecker.

And my vision of when I get back to it is using the push bar left over from the wrecker on the ramp truck.  Yeah I have been doing a lot of wishful dreaming - hoping for a long cold winter...

Cheers

Keith
