Hasn’t happen to me with the hobby yet, but has happened with gaming. Just didn’t wanna play anything, and everything I tried to play I just got bored. So I took a long hiatus, and when I came back to it - it felt fresh again.

Never been in a slump but having several models in various stages of a build helps. That way I can work on whatever catches my interest when I belly up to the bench.

I also look through my model stash and sometimes get the urge to build something different to keep things fresh. I may think I'm not gonna be interested in a particular subject but when I start building it, I realize it's enjoyable because it's not the same old thing.

The only "slump" I've had lately is I've grown tired of all the decals needed to finish racing cars. Those are my favorite models to build but for some reason I find it hard to sit down and take the time to patiently apply them.

Gary....now this one made me smile.  But I can assure you it does happen.  Fortunatly ,not for long.   My productivity comes from  my organization.

Rich, I have the same thoughts as Gary - you are showing us great models, one after the other. But this should be a hobby, so a temporary slump is no drama in my opinion. A bigger problem would be to put yourself under pressure so that the hobby - which should be a great enjoyable pastime - becomes something like work.

Helmut...a point well taken.  There are two kinds of work.  The one we have to do...like earning a living.  Not something we very much enjoy but it has to be done if we want a roof over our heads , want to eat and enjoy other comforts.  (I am retired so I am beyond that now)  Then there is the work we want to do. Reminds me of a Jaguar ad I saw a long time ago of a man washing his E-type.  The caption was simple...a labor of love. Yah...if I had that car I would sure enjoy washing it.  Well I feel exactly that way about my model collection.  For years, each time I got a new kit I dreamed of the day I would sit down and work on it.  I often looked at my collection and said..."one day I am going to do just that."  I am sure I am not alone...I might even have you for company.   Nowadays  it is not just a labor of love...its a dream come true.   Any slump I have comes from the fact of which kit or project  do I enjoy next.  I , personally overcome it quite quickly.  I started this post to see how others deal with it and their thoughts. Its been very interesting to say the least.  And, as always , I appreciate your insight.

I'm in a pretty big slump right now, pecking away unenthusiastically at my current project. I just put it away in a box. I don't fight it. Have I built everything I want to build?

A kitchen remodel starts tomorrow with cabinet delivery. The guys will want to use the garage (my workshop) to setup their (as it rains pretty much every afternoon this time of year), saws (etc) so it will be a big mess of sawdust and whatnot for the next few weeks. Good timing I guess. Heading to Home Depot to buy some dropcloths to cover everything in the garage....expensive fun n games... -RRR
