Picked up about two dozen Car Craft magazines. From '59 to '62

There are some Auto World ads in them.

At that time in Scranton PA

They were really into model cars. That's for sure.

We just thought Auto World was some new thing.

Don't know how much of a connection there is between original Auto World and today's one.

Have fun!

Will post some of the ads.

I remember ordering from Auto World back in the early 1980s. Saw an advertisement for them in Boys' Life. Them & Estes Rockets. How times have changed!

Heck, I'm old enough to remember the original Auto World back then. I used to get their catalogs regularly and also ordered from them regularly. Good times.

I've got half of one, dated 1964.

Wish I had a whole one. It came from my Dad. I did not know he was into that kind of thing when I was one yr old.

That '64, Bottom Row, Far Right, is the one I have part of.

Thats the one I remember best from my childhood...it was like my "wish list" book. I think car modeling might've been hitting its peak right around then.

Hi Jim

Thank you.Good to be back.

Most intriguing item in Auto World Car Craft ads is a 'model cutter'.

Specialized hot knife for cutting up your model.

Have fun!

Those "Hot Knives" are still available in a couple of different forms, I know that in my last Micro Mark catalog they had one that was still sold as a Hot Knife, and I have seen them in crafts areas of a couple of different stores that have the same basic thing sold in a woodburning kit that had several different screw in tools and one of them was a metal screw collet for a  #11 blade in what was basically a extremely high heat soldering iron and both of them had a disclaimer that you were to only use the first 1/8" of the blade to keep from melting your job into a mangled blob of plastic. They weren't very good at the time they were first sold and they haven't improved over the years.

And there was no 4-hour delivery of your online order (along with tracking).  You mailed the order form with a check and waited 4-6 weeks for the kits to arrive.  We have it good today!  :)
