Chuckyg1 Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 This was at the local show today. Looked like the real deal. It was pretty cool. Anyone want to try replicating it? (Lots of pics.) 3 1
TarheelRick Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Looks like a set of Hooker (?) Purple Hornys in the trunk. Had a set of those on my '72 350 C-10 for two days, that is as long as I could stand them. Not sure what I did with them but was glad to get rid of them.
Raoul Ross Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 (edited) I don't think those are the correct heads (double hump) but the valve covers are. Looks like a dual feed Holley(jerry-rigged fuel setup in the trunk), also correct for the solid lifter version. Nice that it's a 4-speed. I spy a CB antenna coax cable curling around the trunk lid with the remnants still mounted on it. Yea, a nice barn find! EDIT: I stand corrected, those are Z-28/LT-1 heads. The machined pads are the give away. The original double-hump heads had no machined pads. Edited June 11, 2023 by Raoul Ross
1930fordpickup Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 This is an interesting car. I have a good idea of what it needs to draw the big bucks. Is it worth it?
espo Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Might be less expensive in the long run to buy one of the new reproduction Camaro bodies rather than trying to restore the sheet metal here.
iamsuperdan Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I dig it, but when was it found in the barn? The sticker on the side window is from a 2019 show, so he's obviously been driving it for a few years. The items in the trunk look staged to me as well. Still, looking at the work that car needs, why not just drive it as is? Sure is cheaper than restoring it.

1930fordpickup Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 I agree that the stuff in the trunk is silly. Some of those parts may have came off of the car, but why put them in the trunk. Also I spotted that the passenger side exhaust manifold is not right for this car. Not a big deal as it is an old hot rod anyway.
