oldcarfan Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Growing up in South Texas not far from King Ranch I remember seeing these hunting cars every once in a while. Thought someone might like to make a project of it. They also used cut up Jeep Wagoneers and Suburbans and other things like that. Anyway, just thought it might be food for thought.
stavanzer Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 There was a 1950 Buick Hunting Car from King Ranch on the cover of either Popular Science ot Mechanix Illustrated back in 1950 or 1951. My Dad had the issue, and it was an Awesome Car? I still remember the painting on the cover.

stavanzer Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 And some more about the "El Kineno" http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2017/03/they-had-some-extremely-odd-ideas-of.html https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=35299 And here it is at a car show.
oldcarfan Posted July 23, 2023 Author Posted July 23, 2023 Actually I do, just forgot to post it. Sorry, guys. I'll look around and see if I can find any more.
oldcarfan Posted July 23, 2023 Author Posted July 23, 2023 Here's some more! Some of these pics are from Hagerty, they auctioned a couple of these that were restored. Probably other ranches had similar setups, but I know the King ranch did deer and quail hunts out of these vehicles. I especially like the black and white picture because I can imagine some guy using a clapped up old jalopy and some wood he had laying around to make his own hunting vehicle. 1
