olschoolkid
Hello everybody, I'm wanting to build the Revell/Monogram Dodge Ram VTS into a pro street with a 440 or hemi. I was wondering if there are any good chassis to work with or if I should try to build my own. I've never built a chassis before, so I wouldn't know where to start. However, I do have some styrene strip I can use. I've seen some info on chassis building on the forum, but I'm still a bit confused. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. stitchdup
Theres a 3d printed chassis for the 67/8/9 chevy to build it pro street. It might be an option that would work on the dodge with a little tweaking being they are both the same general length and body shape. But I would say to try building your own first, you'll get more satisfaction from it and its a great way to push your skills. If it doesn't work out its no big loss but you will see as your working on it where you need to alter parts. As a friend says, it only plastic and it can be reused for other things so its not a waste. What I've done is draw out the bottom of the chassis on paper, then i use that as my template. It is helpful to have your suspension when you build too, nothing is more irritating than building the chassis and finding out your suspension parts have nothing to mount to, or the wheels wont fit under the arches. 1930fordpickup
Matthew, I agree with Les. The biggest hang up is going to be the fuel tank. Because it is right there in the way.
Zippi
Les, myself and many others use the AMT 66 Nova prostreet or the 67 Chevelle Pro Street chassis under various bodies. They don't work out all the time but it's worth taking a look at. HL has both kits on sale this week for 40% off.
bobthehobbyguy
If you Google pro Street pickup chassis you will see how the full size trucks are done. For modifying the chassis evergreen plastic shapes will come in handy.
