I painted a body with Tamiya Gunmetal Grey. Tested both clears on spoons, but the 'clear' seems glossier than the 'pearl clear'. Is this normal? The Gunmetal had approximately 24hrs to dry...

Did I defeat the effect of the pearl, putting it on a dark color? If I recoat, will it gloss up? Can I use the TS-65 clear over it?

Thanks.....

Tamiya's pearl-clear has fine 'pearl' (synthetic). I've used it a few times, followed up with Testors enamel gloss cote ( I know, I know... but after 18 years of being on the car's body (AMT's c.2005 reissue of the Rat Packer Chevy II Street Freak ), I don't recognise any discolouration .

IMO, spray the parts with their - Tamiya's - TS-13 , over the existing paint/pearl-clear, then polish the finish.

Actually John, Testors Glosscote and Dullcote are lacquers, not enamels.  They have always been lacquers. That is why they dry so fast.

You can use them over enamels because they are not hot..

TS-65 is more of an intermediate coat than a top coat. It won't dry as glossy as TS-13 and really needs a top coat to shine.  Below is my Nissan Z which used a base coat of IJN Green followed by two coats of TS-65 and three top coats of TS-13 polished out.

That's correct. Just because they are lacquers, that doesn't automatically make them hot (unlike the lacquers designed to paint 1:1 metal-body cars, but which modelers used to paint plastic kits).  Glosscote and Dullcote have been around for decades and are specifically designed for the hobby market.
