Slotto Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Inspired by @Koellefornia Kid. I'm going for a little different take though. This came from Ebay. It had no engine and was missing one bucket seat. My plan, flat white, red interior and no graphics. I was able to resin cast a bucket seat so I got the interior covered. I got the engine situation covered too. I'll be using a 429 HEMI from the boneyard. Typical build will include Pegasus wheels and tires, articulated front wheels, disc brakes and red calipers, plumbed and wired engine and whatever else I come up with. 5
customline Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 The 7 litre Ford Galaxy. A very desirable find in the 1:1 world. Not too shabby at 1:25th either. This looks like fun. ? 1 1
bobss396 Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 I love that kit. I did a '66 NASCAR and laboriously swapped a '65 chassis under it, I clipped it actually. I wanted steerable wheels. 2
SpikeSchumacher Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Looks to be another sweet ride ? 1
Slotto Posted September 12, 2023 Author Posted September 12, 2023 Wasting no time, I jump right in and get after the ride height. I always go for the 2 popsicle stick method. At this thickness, I always get the look I'm after. for the back, this was pretty easy. I measure to the center of the hub and mark it on the chassis sitting on the sticks. Same thing on the other side. I cut the chassis to accommodate a mini straw. It's the perfect diameter to slide an old AMT axle thru. Then glue it in place. In this case, the straw is hidden by the factory axle and pipe assembly. Next up is the front. I look to see where the hub will sit vertically on the chassis. I cut 2 pieces from the parts tree that make a "T". I cut 4 pieces of scrap plastic to act as the upper and lower control arms. Then drill out the spindles and control arms to accommodate a stick pin. I used a .65mm bit. Then assemble. If you cut your spindles to be identical, your finished product will sit flat. I know this is not up to everyone's standards, but it works for me and I'm happy with the result. 4
Slotto Posted September 13, 2023 Author Posted September 13, 2023 Got a little therapy in last night I blew apart the interior so I could better detail the door cards and started working on the powerplant. The headers are made from solder and the collectors are aluminum tubing It's a snug fit but its happy
Chuckyg1 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Nice work so far. Stupid question..... How do you separate the interior door panels? 1

Slotto Posted September 16, 2023 Author Posted September 16, 2023 I decided to remove the top. It took a lot of thought but I pulled the trigger. No turning back now added carpet and added a little flat grey to the wheels. Still need to clean em up and add the spinners. 2
Modlbldr Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Looks like a good start to a great ride! I'll be watching. Later- 1 1
customline Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 (edited) Steve, I'm starting to think that the razor saw is a product of alien technology. It calls to me telepathically and then its two hours later and there's no memory of what I've done. Does this sound familiar? ? . Do you have a top boot? What about the back seat/interior panel situation? (Deciding to remove the top is a false memory that they planted in your mind).....uh....if you aren't going to use that roof..... Edited September 17, 2023 by customline Another thought
Slotto Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 I have a boot. The roof is yours if you want it. PM me your addr
atomicholiday Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 (edited) Very cool project Steve. And those rims…. Stellar!? I built one of these about 20 years ago. Probably one of my better builds to date. I’m along for the ride. Looking forward to seeing yours take shape. Edited September 17, 2023 by atomicholiday 1

ea0863 Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Man, that is coming out awesome! And thank you for the primer on your drivetrain and suspension. Great stuff. 1
Slotto Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 I had to take a quick sneak peek this morning and thought I'd share 1
Sledsel Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Looking good! One of my favorite kits. I wish to forward some info for you to file away for future builds. Ford V8's have both the fuel pump and oil filter on the drivers side. FYI only. Cannot wait to see her done. 1
Slotto Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 I'm calling the interior done I wasn't thrilled with the grey insert for the wheel so I brushed over them with my black airbrush mix. also got some flat white on the body. 5 small emblems were covered with BMF prior to paint. I'll brighten them up when the body cures. 3
atomicholiday Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Looks awesome. How the heck did you do the chrome piping on the door cards?? 1
