JollySipper
Just a little progress to show......... I mainly wanted to show y'all, and maybe get some opinions, on the tan color I'll be using for the underside where it would be raw fiberglass..... Will it do a good job representing that? also sprayed the engine bay with Rustoleum canyon black........ The tan is Desert Sand vinyl dye from DupliColor...... I just primed the part and sprayed it like paint.
JollySipper
Doing some flat sanding on the body parts........ There's a bit of a trough along the trailing edge of the hood. It was around the whole perimeter, but I've managed to remove most of it..... May have to just prime and sand until it's level.

JollySipper
Still some body work going on.......... It being 'big scale' just means the sink marks and mold lines are larger! There's some really bad areas in the coves on the fenders. Low spots from where the hinge bulkhead was molded into the inside. I'm going to try the 'prime sand prime' method to fix them. I've started that on the trough along the hood that I showed earlier...... That's what's going on right now! I'm working on the frame and such behind the scenes also........ Mattilacken
Nice build! 1/16 is a special scale and i have one in the works as well. Have bought 2 different kits to supply parts but the 3D printer was some thing that made my build to start to come alive.

JollySipper
I sure hope so, Carl! I should be able to get everything but the main body in primer today..........
JollySipper
Here's a little more done...... This will be these parts' initial primer. They'll get wet sanded with #2000 and one more primer coat......
JollySipper
Well, the body received it's first coat of primer today! Looks pretty good for the most part...... Still need to do some scribing here and there, maybe more sanding in a few areas. That's all I have to show for now, even though it's a big step towards paint!

I really like this primer..... It dries slick enough you don't really need to sand it. I sand it anyway, though..... Speaking of which, my can is low enough that I'm starting to have trouble getting it to spray, so it's soon to the parts store for more. I'll post some progress made on the chassis soon! doorsovdoon
Nice. These 1/16 scale builds look fun. Unusual to see the word 'Remove' stamped on the body. Do they want you to throw the doors away? lol
JollySipper
While waiting until I can get more primer, I've been getting the chassis and wheel/tire set-up squared away..... I sprayed the tires with Rustoleum matte clear enamel. The frame is also coming along...... I'm having to stuff paper towel into the tires, as the wheels are just a tad too wide for them. Thanks for lookin' in, guys!

JollySipper
Thank you for being interested in this, guys! Still waiting until I can get a can of primer to finish prepping this for paint.......... Stay Tuned! as Snake would say.......
JollySipper
Hey, guys! I was able to get the final two wet coats of primer on everything over the last couple of days...... This will likely get a light wet sanding, then it's on to paint!

JollySipper
20 hours ago, slusher said: Looks awesome, TJ! Thanks, Carl my friend! I'm just looking at the pics of it all in primer...... The trim on the doors is very pronounced, but where it continues onto the body is less defined. I did that filling the divot in the coves. What I think I might do is sand the trim on the doors so it looks more like that on the fenders. What y'all think?
JollySipper
Well, guys, we have a rolling chassis! I've decided to get back on this one.....

Probably my next build and I was going black with silve cove also.😂 One of my first builds since I got back to the bench. Always one of my favs as well. Nothing like the beauty TJ has going. 1
