The Revell Shelby Series I should have the 4.0L Oldsmobile version of the Northstar. I don't know how detailed it is.

Yeah, I recently acquired a couple of Fiero kits, and I want to build one of em with one of these engine swaps, 3800 s/c or 4.6 Northstar.. Because it'll be rad..

An LSA is indeed not a Northstar.. Seller looks to have a decent couple of offerings, wish the '60 Saratoga wasn't a chop-top..

That Series 1 with the 4.0 Aurora Northstar seems to be pretty decently detailed, can anyone confirm?

Looks to perhaps be the only game in town in any case..

What about those 80s Monogram Indy Car kits?

Some of those were Buick V6 powered weren't they?

Are those kit engines any good?

One more question, wasn't there a kit of an early 2000s Cadillac LMP race car?

Those were Northstar powered..

I'm aware the LSA isn't a Northstar, there are so few Cadillac things around it seemed worth mentioning.

Here's a pic of the Series 1 engine parts. It looks like a good parts kit for modern suspension stuff too.

The Monogram Indy car kits are kind of simplified in the engine detail. Left is20231018_084148.thumb.jpg.b94321a354e3f8065ebf4e6038a95035.jpg the V6 Buick from the Planters car, right is the V8 from the Valvoline car. It has Chevy on the valve covers.

And now, I have to have it..

But anyhow, any of yous guys know if the engine is well detailed?

This car ought to have a Buick 3800 Series I V6 in it..

Neither of these are my builds, just dome google-fu.

The red kit you posted has a 2.8

There is a GTP version with a turbo 3.1

There's also an AMT 20th anniversary Firebird GTA Turbo with a 3.8 but it's rear wheel drive.

I did try the ol Google, but didn't find much..

Thanks for this info though!

Both the 2.8 and 3.1 are Chevrolet based engines, won't do, BUT that 20th Anniversary Pontiac is exactly what I need!

Thanks for the reminder, I had totally forgotten that this kit even existed as anything non-pre '65 MoPar is way out of my wheelhouse..

Don't forget the Grand National is 1/24 scale so it might be a tight fit in 1/25 kits.

Just FYI...LS swaps in Fieros are also fairly common. It's tight, but it'll work.

IIRC, the LS4 bolts directly to the F40 gearbox (six-speed manual from the Pontiac G6), though there's a mod required concerning the starter.

Again IIRC, other LS engines can be used with an adapter.

And again IIRC, the F40 gearbox also bolts to many GM 2.8-3.9 V6 engines.

Man, they're really doing LS on EVERYTHING ain't they?

My cousin, a diehard Mitsubishi (or Japanese MoPars as I can em) guy, just showed me an LS swapped 3000GT..

Yeah...it's the smallblock Chevy of "modern" times.

SBCs ended up in just about everything too, from VW Bugs to Datsun Z-cars, MGs, Austin Healeys, all manner of Jags, Porsche 914s (properly in the middle), probably 90% of non-flathead hot-rods, and the ultimate sacrilege...in the rear of a few Porsche 911s.

Today, 350HP minimum from a junkyard aluminum LS is pretty respectable...and cheap...horsepower.

A guy here in town has a kinda hacked LS swap in a Porsche Boxster, and frankly, if it had been done better, it would be a dead-reliable rocket.  :D

It was made for model years 1988-1992.
