JJ Deuce Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 I got this kit cheap at Ollie's, and decided I'd try to finish it over the weekend. I started Friday night, and might not get done tonight, but it's coming along. Keeping it simple, sort of inspired by Steve McQueen's manx from the Thomas Crown Affair. Paint is Testor's Fiery Orange Lacquer. 4
atomicholiday Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Cool! That’s a great color choice for a beach buggy.? 1
doorsovdoon Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Yes, colour looks perfect. That heavy metal flake is straight out of the 70's. Very nice. 1
JJ Deuce Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 Got a little bit more done today. Hopefully Can wrap it up in a day or two. 2
JJ Deuce Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 Wrapped up the chassis. The steering linkage gave me fits, and that little engine is pretty fiddly but I got it on four wheels. Just a few things left before I can wrap it up. 1
JJ Deuce Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 Finished up this evening. It took me longer than just a weekend, but I can’t remember the last time I built one in less than a week. It was fun to build despite a couple of challenges. I’ll get outside pictures tomorrow and post in Under Glass. 3
Roadrunner Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I'm going to have to snatch one of these kits. Nice work, I like it. 1
ewetwo Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 (edited) I haven't seen this at my Ollies as I've been looking for one. The engine and such looks very much like what is in the shortened Coke VW Bug. Edited November 10, 2023 by ewetwo

I think you can build the same bare bones buggy from both kits, with the beetle pan and rollcage.
