I got this kit cheap at Ollie's, and decided I'd try to finish it over the weekend.  I started Friday night, and might not get done tonight, but it's coming along.  Keeping it simple, sort of inspired by Steve McQueen's manx from the Thomas Crown Affair.

Paint is Testor's Fiery Orange Lacquer.

Wrapped up the chassis.  The steering linkage gave me fits, and that little engine is pretty fiddly but I got it on four wheels.  Just a few things left before I can wrap it up.

Finished up this evening.  It took me longer than just a weekend, but I can’t remember the last time I built one in less than a week.  It was fun to build despite a couple of challenges. I’ll get outside pictures tomorrow and post in Under Glass.

I haven't seen this at my Ollies as I've been looking for one. The engine and such looks very much like what is in the shortened Coke VW Bug.

Yes, it's essentially the same kit aside from the body.  I think you can build the same bare bones buggy from both kits, with the beetle pan and rollcage.
