Hi everyone,

I'd like to share a build with you.

It's an Autocar ACX 8 x 4. There's no such model kit? Probably right. Thats why I'm designing the parts and printing them on a 3D printer.

There's not much to see yet though.

I've made the cab and interior by now!

The chassis is in production.

Here you can see the first few parts, not painted yet though.

Hope you like the idea. There's more to come!

And this is how it's supposed to look: (Pics from the Autocar website).

I may vary in the choice of colors and perhaps cut some details though!

I'll be back soon with more parts and build progress.

Fascinating stuff, looks like a municipal chassis, garbage truck etc... Are you using an Autocar chassis? I don't suppose it matters really does it?

Glad you like my choice!

I won't make a garbage truck out of it though. I haven't decided yet.

One thing's for sure: the steering will work in both front axles.

Thought I might make a cement mixer or a mobile crane or something.

Here are the first chassis parts:IMG_20231122_172229_144.thumb.jpg.78838d331af49ec9b4cfd2e01e8464ca.jpg

Front suspension is being printed just now!

a cement mixer or a mobile crane would go really well with it since you have two steering axle's, but if it were mine i would go with the mixer...

OK, here´s a bit of progress on the chassis:

IMG_20231123_202421_283.thumb.jpg.eebc75540e86e80113ea1f6a0cd8cfce.jpg

I had to exchange the front axles since they kept breaking. I put in metal pins. Also the vertical steering axles are of the same metal material. It´s just safer that way. wouldn´t want to take everything apart if something breaks. But the steering works. Still have to combine the steering of both front axles. Might have to improvise a little.

Thought I´d also add some pics of the 3D designs:

Wow, I'm really happy about your feedback, thanks! ?

I've made a little further Progress but now I have to take a break because my filament is bound to end!

Have to wait a few days till new supplies get delivered!

But of course I'll show you what's happened in the mean time!

IMG_20231126_113039_829.thumb.jpg.8666358d0f540178651dc46fe4f4f437.jpgIMG_20231126_112749_005.jpg.3528462182c7ac458e07876acc09cf3b.jpg

The break cylinders and the tank support are mounted.

The rear rims are also finished but will not be mounted before having painted the chassis!

By the way, I'm also expecting a new printer. I'm really excited about that 'cause it's going to be more automated. Print bed leveling ist no more a manual pain in the ...!

And it prints a bit faster than the old one!

Hope the quality ist also as much better as promised!

We'll know soon! ?

Thanks Rockford. I´ve primered the chassis in the mean time, soon I´ll put on the top coat. The front rims are in print (for the third time!) had problems with my printer. Hope they´ll turn out ok this time.

Hi Folks,

the engine is in print. Had to design a new Transmission because the one I used for the Diamond Reo COE was too big.

Since the front part of the chassis is lowered the standard engine doesn't fit. I also made a new oil pan. It's flatter so it doesn't interfere with the steering rod!IMG_20231128_174326_531.jpg.965fe888243231996f3e27caf08dbe70.jpgIMG_20231128_170924_036.jpg.226b5d3ae8150bb98641ab5c6a148c7b.jpg

I also printed the rack which holds the air filter, and the exhaust system.

IMG_20231128_083111_060.jpg.80c8fb6daa445f12c75be0b0f3722fd2.jpg

Tomorrow hopefully I'll get the new printer. The new filament arrived yesterday. That's why I was able to go on with printing!

I also had to change the position of the turbo charger from the right side to the rear of the engine and therefore also the intake and exhaust manifolds.

You'll get to see those soon.

Stay tuned! ?

Hi everyone,

The chassis is finally painted.

As soon as I get the tires (had to order them, ran out with the Diamond Reo!) ? I can put on the wheels.

Anyway, it's going forward bit by bit.

The engine is ready to be painted, will happen tomorrow or saturday!IMG_20231129_162611_863.thumb.jpg.97481d419b0c565defcc0aecab93a920.jpg

This was the test if everything fits in!
