Hi all….I’ve never posted in WIP before, there’s an awful lot of major talent around here, but I thought oh what the heck. I had gallbladder surgery a couple weeks ago and am off work for a while. Crazy how much bench time you can get when work isn’t involved ?. Anyway I’ve got a few of these 1/16 in the stash and grabbed this one off the stack. I decided to do a box stock build and just have fun with it. I’ve made good progress and should be wrapping it up soon. Safire6 posted his beautiful build of this car a few years ago and it sparked my enthusiasm! I used his pics on occasion for reference including the Tamiya paint numbers. Hopefully he doesn’t mind. I didn’t like the rubber band blower belt, so I made my own out of black Gorilla duct tape. 03279851-BB84-406E-BD99-5B85EAFA53D1.thumb.jpeg.b07fea775f85b095d0b594dfafc0bf76.jpeg366F8603-975C-494E-9CD1-62E0D57123FD.thumb.jpeg.518c2dc720165a3da7062e551299d24c.jpeg2D95DFD9-2172-4ECD-8CC2-5BD6A0CE83F2.thumb.jpeg.09bc26c45dbc8e4de26c65c3ea15e145.jpeg7DA82B78-2927-43FA-ADB6-F88FB2E060A3.thumb.jpeg.be6ea848d89612a314a881310477d6fd.jpeg40DD09DD-1E1F-4A93-8B0F-385E1FD600A0.thumb.jpeg.85576d961e6a83ba7054722f1f4d0d59.jpeg810C922D-0675-4223-94C6-CEA9263CDC93.thumb.jpeg.49e835efe154b66a652c635f0f058918.jpegA84B4875-7464-47A9-A3CD-9AAFDDAD42DA.thumb.jpeg.562f6244a6425f900239cbef326a41a0.jpeg52BF5FD4-9C84-4264-BF41-2FFB4B6199EB.thumb.jpeg.1a0307f0b89ce38962c2af11955f607f.jpegD90E0655-EFF8-4EE8-888E-46FCD3664F07.thumb.jpeg.6f5beb24987f3c2189872e3d3e08ca2a.jpegF071AEF5-93C3-4F90-862E-8688E22036E2.thumb.jpeg.4d2a5733e5f91227a3c5bf7cdaa93bfc.jpegBTW, I usually spray Molotow thru my airbrush for chrome duties, but tried Revell’s Chrome Spray for kicks, and besides it being a bit costly it is as good or better than anything else in my opinion, and dries a lot faster and seems to be a bit more durable. Anyway thanks for looking and I hope everyone had a great holiday! ??

Looking good man but that engine is Boss dude.  Really clean looking and the color choices are spot on.

Quite a bit more work done today. Finished the front end and steering assembly and got her up on wheels and tires. Getting really fun now! 837F987E-13C8-40B0-8CFF-89DDFDECB6C7.thumb.jpeg.5196c1ed2dafa3d6c9348add5a368543.jpegA3C5DFCD-8997-41D4-BF3C-EFBAE9B3D362.thumb.jpeg.f428f8329cce5553f62bb8d8355c84ca.jpegC2736028-2C03-42FC-8357-B2409FF86E7E.thumb.jpeg.9aae0e20699cf82aee69ff9aa15ea4a6.jpeg5FE14C26-7080-4F42-8BC7-8C1443F560AE.thumb.jpeg.78baacc2cae0e93c60bf34f99de9d79e.jpeg

Awesome job!  Super clean build and the paint looks great.  I haven't done one of the 1/16th kits since I was a kid, you may be inspiring me to add it to the queue.  I have the California Charger dragster sitting in the cabinet next to my bench.  :)

Very clean, good looking build.  I LOVE this dragster.  Well done!!

Thanks guys, these kits are fun for sure. I also have the California Charger in my stash along with Don Garlits rear engine and Don Prudomme Wynn’s Winder. It was tough to pick one to open lol. Check out the finished car in the under glass section! ??
