plumnuts Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I almost didn't post this one cause of all the other 32's that have hit the site , but I like the way it's flowing and just wanted to share. so far I have made up the wheels the way I wanted and like the way thay look , the chop and channel have already been done and it's on to fine tunning the body work. this is the car I want to build when the kids move out and may have a chance of having some spending cash. I don't think the motor will be this big in the real deal but it's fun for the model. the first mock up was close ,but just not right. so I went back to the bench and tweeked here and cut there and I feel I'm getting close. and the back looked so far out I just had to pop a shot of it.( don't mind the tire holding the back up. the rear end will get widened this week I hope. well there is just the beginning of this build, moore to come at a later date. so enjoy the pic's and go build somthing!
James W Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I like the modern tire on the rat rod, because we all know they are going to evolve over time right. That's what hot rodding is. Nice chop too.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I like the way it looks with the big tires and in black. Good work.

I have one losing weight fast and may have to take the plunge and put up for viewing in the mirror here soon. This is looking good.. pose is shaping up! Just stay off the fries and pour th epjat into the big block!
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Thought you were gonna sneak one past me huh? the wheel and tire combo are the cats meow man, this is looking way AWESOME, kinda on the scary side too, like if you drove it around all day with a lil evil grin, this thing is way KILLER, rock-n-roll brother, I'm glad you posted it
E St. Kruiser50 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) I have hated this term "Rat Rod", as I drove one in the 50's, as a "Work in progress" hot rod, and haven't been paricularly thrilled with the whole "Rat Rod Theme" in real or scale, but unfortunately I'm being taken over by "THE DARK SIDE" , because of some of the incredible work here on this site, and actually have collected parts to build something that isn't SHINEY AND CHROMY. OH MY GOODNESS!!! It's actually a pretty close copy of a real car I was driving behind in my neighborhood, and it just blew me away. So as the perversion continues, I will eventually "MAN UP", and begin this new aventure . ( By the way, very nice start on this latest project ) Edited March 16, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
george 53 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Dave, WHAT? Your gonna build a "RATROD"? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, It MUST SHINE! If your gonna rebuild your old ride, for nostalgia sake, we'll forgive THAT! But C'mon kidd-o you KNOW your heart is in the "pretty shiney, ain't nobody else got one" state! EVERYONE seems to be doin it, I just DON'T unnerstand why a plain ol primered hot rod is called a rat rod.I mean, some of them look like rollin junk that I wouldnt be caught DEAD in! Then some of them are well thought out and actually look nice. If you do decide to take the plunge, leave SOMETHING chromey or shiney on it ,So I'll know it's yours! As for the "Dark Side" thing, remember what Yoda said,"TRY NOT....., DO!!!!!"
MikeMc Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Sorta like the "flat" Pearl paint jobs out there....like Tim Boyd did on the '55 cameo roadster... Its still suede...but with some personality!!!
