Mittagskind Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 This kit didn't just bring me luck. A few days before Christmas, when the postman rang the bell, I ran towards him, slipped on the stairs and fell to the floor. The result was a broken sternum and a rib. What does that tell us? Model building can be dangerous. I want to build the kit "OOB", but will try to upgrade the engine compartment with some details. The vehicle will be painted metallic gray, perhaps with red stripes. I will largely avoid chrome because I don't like the chrome-plated parts. Instead they become dull black. Here are a few finished components. 2

Ace-Garageguy Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Man...I haven't had a broken rib in a long time, but I sure didn't feel like building models for some time afterwards. You sir, are a true hero. Looking good. The leather effect on those seats is particularly realistic.

Gord55 Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Nicely done so far, looking forward to watching your progress 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Sorry about the rib injury. Glad you're feeling better. Work looks good. 1
floodstang Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 I built one of those years ago. I might have to do another one.
BDSchindler Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 I have this very same kit but I haven’t started it yet. There’s a few issues with it…like the chromed side gill vents. The kit provided ones look cheap. I’ll prolly use styrene and fab my own. I also picked up TX3DCustom’s 427 for it with the webers. I modified the intake so the webers sit straight up as opposed to being canted inward at an angle. it’s in the queue to be built but I have other projects on the bench first.

Mittagskind Posted January 16, 2024 Author Posted January 16, 2024 The trunk is finished. I also wired the battery and added a tank filler neck. 3
Mittagskind Posted January 19, 2024 Author Posted January 19, 2024 The engine is making progress. I didn't like the lots of chrome plated parts, especially the carburetor intake funnels. Because I didn't have a really good chrome paint, I decided to paint them gold. I admit the wiring looks a little confused, but form follows function. The valve covers and the gearbox received a light blackwash. 1
Mittagskind Posted January 25, 2024 Author Posted January 25, 2024 The firewall and the rear wall of the cabin are about 2 mm too high, so the body does not fit well on the chassis. So I have to sand both down.
Mattilacken Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Nice build! might need to get one of those! i like the 1:16 kits and the possibilitys to ad detail. 1
