fordsixty Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 hey danny, your porsche is looking good. it is a great relief when you finally get the body painted, huh? just to let you know, i am still in this. the fiat is on hold until i get the torino closer to the finish line. i need to start moving faster. one and half months, huh? sheesh. i did not get as much done as i wanted but, progress is being made. the chassis is painted and the interior is almost done. still need the dash, shifter, steering wheel and a couple more wires. the office is almost ready to move in. please excuse the scraped off paint. the body fits so tight, it scrapes off paint going on and off. i also hope to have some paint on the body by this weekend. post up boys. later
3men2s Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) BRO THE INTERIOR LOOKS VERY GOOD, VERY RACING LOOKING YOU HAVE DONE AN EXELENT JOB ON THE DETAILS. I DONT'T WORRY ABOUT THE CHIPED PAINT....ITS REALISTIC THOSE DAYS WHERE MORE DOWN TO EARTH AND THEY USE TO WORK ON THE CARS IN THE DIRT AND WITH OUT A COVER OVER THEM....THE GOOD OLD DAYS. I WOULD DO MORE WHETHERING...LIKE A RIP IN THE SEAT SOME GREASE ON THE BELTS IF YOU CAN GET A OLD HELMET WITHOUT THE FACE AND HANG IT FROM THE ROLL CAGE, IT WOULD BE COOL. Been busy at the bench on a couple of other projects, but this one is startin' to come together... arts have been washed (used bleach solution as described in instructions) and seperated Body after white primer and a couple coats of MM "Classic White" lacquer (best white paint out of a rattle can I've found so far) Masked center cowling and stripes along bottom of both sides...mixed 3 different Tamiya paints (3 parts TS-35 Park Green; 2 parts TS-22 Light Green; and 1 part TS Lime green) until I got the green that closely matched the reference photos of the real car. Shot the green on all the areas it needed to go, masked the green areas then used Tamiya TS-10 French Blue to finish off the body. All parts ready for decals and assembly... interior was brush painted with MM acryl Green Zinc Chromate then sprayed with Dullcote thanx for lookin'...

Kombi Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I've got a 917k that I'll be working on that's fits the bill to a T, but I'm pretty sure I won't have it finished until December or so. Still, I'll watch this one, I like the unique cars like this Matra here.
3men2s Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 HEY!!!! GT FANS, HOW R WE DOING. WE HAVE ABOUT A MONTH TO GO, SOON I'LL BE POSTING THE PROGRESS ON MY 917. HOPE TO SE SOME OF YOUR WORK. QUESTION? SINCE PEGEOT SHOWED THAT IT COULD KEEP UP WITH THE AUD's in SEBRING, HOW MANY THINK THE PEGS R READY TO WIN LEMANS FOR FRANCE AT FRANCE? I HAVE A FEELING PEGEOT WILL FINISH 1ST.

SINCE PEGEOT SHOWED THAT IT COULD KEEP UP WITH THE AUD's in SEBRING, HOW MANY THINK THE PEGS R READY TO WIN LEMANS FOR FRANCE AT FRANCE? I HAVE A FEELING PEGEOT WILL FINISH 1ST. I think the Peugeot 908 has been ready, (mostly except the reaccuring hydrolic problem) and they probably should have won last year. I think their short comming is experience. Team and Drivers. Hopefully they will bring it all together and bump Audi off. Took them a couple years last time they tried with the 905s. Audi, too, this year does have the advantage being a new car built to the new specs, whereas the Peugeot was modified to fit the new rules. However, they still showed they could run with the Audi's when they didn't have problems at Sebring.

3men2s Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Amazing love the clean details on this MATRA....you problably do this with your eyes closed. Question? did the 1:1 had that green color? and if they did, I wonder why? they ran out of dull gray.

Being an aircraft manufacturer...they liked zinc chromate for the interior of these cars, at least that's what most of the documentation I was able to find on this car.
Raul_Perez Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Looking good, my old friend!! Is there any type of model car that you don't build? Later,
CAL Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Being an aircraft manufacturer...they liked zinc chromate for the interior of these cars, at least that's what most of the documentation I was able to find on this car. FWIW Zinc Chromate is yellow, it is not a pigment per say but rather a chemical reaction. "Green" Zinc Chromate was zinc chromate with an "indicator" said to distiguish the first coat from the second. It was though originally, since Zinc Chromate natrually aged to a green, that adding carbon accelerated the natrual aging. Later simple Lamp black was add.
fordsixty Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 hello gentlemen, i finally got the urge back to get this thing going again. i wish i could find that creative faucet. that way i could turn it on and leave it on. i started getting the front end together. still need to make the shocks and a little touch up paint. also started the motor, a BOSS 429! i started with the monogram small block chevy and converted it to a "385 series" big block ford. added deck height, lengthened the block, added an oil filter boss, timing chain cover and a bunch of other little things. built the heads and the intake manifold ( i think it turned out pretty cool ). the valve covers are 1/24 monogram's that have been corrected. removed the lip ( there is none on the 1:1s ) and the markings. here are a couple of pics: here you can see that the cowl, w/ intake opening, is complete. hey look, a BOSS 429. here is a shot of the start of the dash. here is the shot of the 1:1. notice the light above the number to illuminate it. too bad it did not get to run at le mans. oh well, back to the bench.
curt raitz Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 One Matra 670 finished before the 2009 24 hours of LeMans... Overall winner of the 1972 24 hours of LeMans finis thanx for lookin'...
simonr Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 A die cast!!..Which scale is it? Yo hize ese tuyo en 2002, lo puedo poner tambien? Nice thread! Simón P. Rivera Torres Simon, that's a die cast I got many years ago and promised to do a 1:24 scale model of it one day.....when I saw the fujimi, I almost cry men. and for a good price, because those fisher models were out of my legue and pocket. Question, I know this car had two engine set ups the 16 cil. and the 12 cil. WITH WHICH ENGINE DID IT RAN THE RACE IN 1970 ? I sopoused with the 12 but saw in a site a picture of the 16 and sais engine taken out of the 1970 917 winner of lemans and it gad me thinking.
