Lyle Willits Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Duplicolor Bright Red. Chrome wheels from a Revell '49 Merc kit, painted black, leaving the trim ring and hardware chromed. 3 inch lowering blocks in the rear. Front axles mounted slightly higher. Whitewalls are painted on with Polly Scale white. Wish I could remember what kit the tires came from. Front and rear seats from a '69 Olds 442 kit. The view most little rich punks saw from their new Z-28's. 409 from an AMT '62 Bel Air kit, with some detail and scratchbuilt stuff. The business office.
Peter Lombardo Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 What, have you given up on sleep??? Posting at 5:30 in the morning….anyway, very nice little “sleeperâ€â€¦.your not sleeping, but this little bugger is! The buckets are a nice little touch…makes the interior more “cozy†then the big soft no support bench seat. Very well done.
fordh8r Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I've always loved the looks of those valve covers on those old M heads. You done good on this one. The build looks great!
Z28Lover Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Great looking build.Even though it's a '57 like the Bel Air, you made it like an entirley different car. I really like it.
Charlie Magers Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 What Raceway is the bumper sticker from? My eyes are older than the car......
Raul_Perez Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Lyle, You just can't go wrong with a 409!! Can you imagine (or remember) what it was like trying to stop those old cars with their single cylinder, non-power drum brake system?! The light weathering looks GREAT!! Thanks for sharing,
Lyle Willits Posted March 26, 2009 Author Posted March 26, 2009 What Raceway is the bumper sticker from? My eyes are older than the car...... My eyes are 4 years older thn yours. I had to go look. It's an Orange County International raceway bumper sticker. I know,,,,Maryland car with a California sticker,,,,,hey, it's a make-believe world. Peter - I've been gainfully employed all of my adult life. Why wouldn't I be up at 5:30?
Irvin Arter Jr. Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Great build Lyle! I wonder how Tom Kren is going to build and paint his???????? HaHa
RJWood Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 That 150 looks fantastic. The more you look at it, the more details you see. Outstanding work.
carrucha Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Cool build. The black wheels and whitewall tires contrast nicely with the red paint. carrucha
Randy Kern Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 That really looks good, Lyle. A sleeper for sure. It reminds me of my brother's '57 that he should have kept!
phil Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 That really looks good, Lyle. A sleeper for sure. It reminds me of my brother's '57 that he should have kept! Reminds me of my 57 belair 4dr hrdtp. I got the car from a friend whose family owned a garage. It was abandoned on the side of a highway. My best friend had a late 348 hipo that he had intended to install in a jimmy pickup. He sold the jimmy and the engine was sitting in his garage. I needed a motor,he gave it to me. It originaly had a 3-2 setup. but my buddy only had the four barrel manifold. It was a GREAT car and a real stump puller.
