Mike 1017 Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 I just read an article about the Pontiac Can-Am. Wasn't there a Chevy built to compete with the Can-AM? Mike
Mark Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Can't think of one. Chevrolet had the Malibu Laguna S-3, but that was available long before the Can Am.
Mike 1017 Posted April 9, 2024 Author Posted April 9, 2024 Thanks, The Laguna was manufactured between 1973-1976. The Can AM was a one-year option on the 1977 LeMans I would like to see both as a kit. Mike
JollySipper Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 I've always liked the Can-Am, and the LeMans they were based on............ Also like the GTs! This is just tooooo sharp to me........ 4
espo Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Might even look better without the vinyl roof treatment.
NYLIBUD Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Yup I’ve got a friend of mine who has been building the same Laguna S-3 replica for about 15 years or so.Hes gone through a half a dozen or so motors..And for the last three years,it sits rotting away under a torn cover,w/o a motor.
NYLIBUD Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Caught this Poncho at a cruise night last week. 2

Much smoother looking without the vinyl roof breaking up the lines. 1
CaddyDaddy Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 That Grand Am has pretty much the same interior/dash as that Grand Prix pictured.

A little folklore on the GP/Can Am dash. Rumor has it they ceased production of the Can Am due to supply chain issues for the dash. The Grand Prix was selling really well and was more profitable. Thus the change. Edited April 16, 2024 by Bills72sj
bobss396 Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 I did a wheel alignment on a Grand Am back in my car fixing days. It was a '74 or '75 with the 455 H.O. and a 4-speed. Needless to say, the alignment required a longer-than-usual test ride before and after. It had the shaker scoop and was FAST.
