Here is a relatively quick scratch-building and glue bomb save project I started about six weeks ago. I typically don’t build this quickly. IMG_9212.thumb.jpeg.ad33bf861f4e30511c8210a8b86b1fd2.jpegIMG_9209.thumb.jpeg.8d8fd794419d5e19c9c1b4b6e6807424.jpegTamiya pure white and candy lime green. It’s curbside - both the RV body and under the non-opening hood (just a simple engine block painted Cummins red). The real production Lonestar trucks did not come with the Maxxforce 15 that’s in the kit. Since I’m a stickler for engines, I wasn’t going to detail it out if it wasn’t in the real truck. IMG_9203.thumb.jpeg.e5102e1d3382959faf4143896d1bf1f0.jpeg I wanted to build more of a “home-built” toter, nice, but not a more fancy production-style coach like my Aeromax RV or my current 379 RV project with radius corners. Though, it has the fancier frameless windows you see on new RVs these days, mainly because, well, they are much easier to make. IMG_9217.jpeg.5e57de6d5f4f8c4a2d486a8270813fea.jpegYears ago, Oldr-n-drt was kind enough to send me the cut styrene sides to a toterhome body, which I put to good use on this project. It’s been a long time, but thanks again! IMG_9207.thumb.jpeg.72e34a3e8c40dc173758cf25e602e0c2.jpegFor the cab and chassis I used a badly warped daycab glue bomb I got off of eBay that had been sitting around waiting for inspiration to put it to use.IMG_9204.thumb.jpeg.7d840c0bfea48dcd6be311ffaade9dd9.jpeg I stripped, filled, sanded, and did my best to straighten it. Gluing the hood shut helped a lot. IMG_9216.thumb.jpeg.4853732af1a85e39adf0d7408e191df9.jpegFirst time doing a flame paint job. I used masks from Lazy Modeller. A little tricky, requiring a bit of touch-up, but not too bad. IMG_9206.thumb.jpeg.62475e56d46b815ef14a25cb5c415f66.jpegI used a portion of the aero skirts from a Prostar, modified to fit. Most of the kit chrome was in bad shape and had to be refinished with Revel spray chrome. Photo etch from Czech Truck Model. Be sure to ask if there is something I didn’t cover. Hope you enjoyed it.

vincent...i even forgot about sending yall the parts for the motorcoach??? oldr-n-drt       looking good......

Yep, looked at them a couple months back and thought there has to be a spare parts truck I could use for a fairly simple project.

The glue bomb daycab Lonestar chassis fit the length of the side panels perfectly. The chassis was missing one of the axles, but the rear axle on the chassis lined up perfect with the front wheel opening on the sides, so I filled the rear opening. Only being a scale 32’ RV, a single rear axle is fine.

What a knockout  I am so curious, tho.... can you share how you made the dark tinted RV side windows

I used Plastruct .030” Copoly Sheet #91251, cut to the rectangular size I needed, then I used a corner cutter from Hobby Lobby to get the 1/4” radius corners. It’s called a “Crop-a-dile Corner Chomper”, meant for paper, but it does well on thin styrene and clear copolymer sheet.

IMG_9248.thumb.jpeg.22134359522ee7c9cadc9fa5c96ed04c.jpegScribed the portion of the windows that can open outward, then I laid them on painters tape, and sprayed one side with a couple light coats of Model Master 2949 Transparent Black Window Tint.

IMG_9249.jpeg.ac7e20dd7cf720bef372e1e36d70e72d.jpegI put window “shades” inside using corrugated styrene sheet. The enamel window tint seems to cover more evenly than the Tamiya Lacquer version, though I’m more partial to Tamiya in general. Maybe it’s the copoly, but the enamel seems to work better. I’m almost out of it, so I’ll have to see if I can find more somewhere.

That is a beautiful motorhome/toter. The color combination works very well with the size and shape. Only thing missing is an enclosed trailer with some form of race car inside. I have a couple of this style build floating around in my head, just need to get to the bench (if I can find it) and get busy cutting some styrene.

Very true, it needs something to pull. I’ll need to, at the very least, put together a galaxie enclosed trailer for it. I customized one a few years back for my Aeromax RV Conversion.IMG_5507.jpeg.dbb52899a886f8d3df8cfe419cbca4ad.jpegIMG_5136.thumb.jpeg.3d64eddad13a62db0abb95981e75cdf8.jpegIMG_5521.thumb.jpeg.f90ee07d510e6e5db6838a94429d9d6e.jpegIMG_5523.thumb.jpeg.76593cb7f26bb93c2c05b926032e1133.jpegIMG_5519.jpeg.0af532bb1376bafd1f67a44e2ab20c81.jpegIMG_5502.thumb.jpeg.ec83a7dfb63fe331023293f7359d52dd.jpegIMG_5505.jpeg.2758bb7a37a5f4f7dad9ebf948b94733.jpeg
Since these photos were taken, I got another decal sheet to add more graphics to the rear of the trailer.

I have plans to scratch-build a stacker for my current Pete 379 Conversion project.

Thanks! And yeah, it’s a niche alright. Not a typical thing to be into.

I love them, kinda got plans iny head. Probably should pull the trigger one of these days. Your painting and attention to detail are really something.

Looks awesome!

But upon reading the thread title, I thought this would be a different Lonestar RV.

I totally didn’t think about that when I wrote it. But, yeah, of course!

Beautiful build! I like those masks! I’ve considered ordering more of them for future projects. Excellent work!

Thank you. I’d recommend them, not too difficult to work with. First time using masks for me. I think putting down clear before a color coat helped seal them, just like with masking tape.
