R. Thorne Posted April 27 Share Posted April 27 My third build on here at the same time. Seems like I am always held up by parts or tools. Well, anyway, I wanted to build a replica of Bruce Wilkinson’s station wagon (one of the guys I ran against in those days), but since there is no practical way of obtaining a wagon, I decided to build something like Buddy Ingersol ran, but with a Wilkinson type of paint job. Clear as mud, huh? This is the kit and some assembly pics. Got the interior painted Rustoleum grey and the chassis painted Tamiya pure white. Yes, I like the ceramic scraper, and the infini soft back sanding sticks. Some pics after primer. Tried deepening the front and rear windshield with different scribing tools. Went ok, but, slipped off in the center of the back windshield. Then, I remembered I had purchased an adjustable Dspiae scriber specifically for this purpose. That’s pretty sad when you can’t remember all the tools you have. Anyway, it worked fine, and I put some putty on the gaffed up area and am letting it dry overnight. Mr. Waibel built some tough cars. Sanded down and rescribed the back window. Scribed the fender separation and sanded the body including 4000 for a polish effect. Some engine work yesterday, cut the Turboglide off in preparation for a scattershield and stick shift from , I believe, a 57 Nomad. The stock carb in the kit will be used and, actually looks a lot like the original 4gc Rochester carb. Gave it a bath to remove chrome. If you’re wondering why a 2 bladed fan, that was a little trick I picked up from Jack Mullins and was worth about 7 hundredths et on my Olds stocker.
